Any six-pony group (in this context, any pony character outside of the
mane 6) that can be viewed as a mane 6 alternative (ie. a group of 6
friends appearing together).

It traditionally refers to a group made up of the pony background
characters with the highest popularity rating among fandom (we can
define bg pony here as any pony with only a few or no acting and
speaking roles, but one or more memorable bg event appearances and/or
considerable fanon).

While exact membership it not set in stone and is determined by the
personal preference of the artist, it traditionally includes at least
one or more of the following characters:

- Derpy Hooves

- Lyra Heartstrings

- Bon Bon/Sweetie Drops

- DJ P0n-3/Vinyl Scratch

- Octavia

- Doctor Whooves (the one with the highest popularity, losing points
for being male)

- Berry Punch (2nd most popular bg pony after DW)

- Carrot Top (points for being Derpy’s partner by association)

- Raindrops (points for being a pegasus)
