About / FAQ
Last updated
Twibooru is an archive website for media pertaining to the show My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic, related franchises, and the fandom surrounding them.
What makes us different
-
We allow anonymous uploads only
- The content you upload will not be moderated according to their contents — as long as it is pony related (and legal), it's allowed
- We offer a pure searchable archive and do not aim to foster a
community
; as such, staff involvement is intended to be kept to a minimum - We are hosted in a country with very lenient copyright laws, so we do not maintain a
do-not-post
list or process image takedowns from individual artists
- We intend to automatically import media from other fandom boorus
-
Our content restrictions are more lax than some of the more established fandom imageboards
- We allow foalcon,
loli,
fluffy ponies, merch sexploitation, political propaganda of all stripes, etc., in addition to your everyday cute, safe-for-work ponies
- We allow foalcon,
We do not intend to replace, supplant, or otherwise compete with any other boorus in the fandom; rather, we merely wish to provide another — hopefully useful — avenue of sharing for everypony. You've got to share. You've got to care.
FAQs
General
-
What is this place and why is my art here?
We are a media repository that allows users to upload, tag, share, and discuss My Little Pony content. Somepony admired your work so much that they wanted to easily share it with their friends.
Okay, but it's mine. I own it. I don't want it here.
That's not a question. You might've created the art, and we are happy to give you credit for your work. However, we hold the belief that nobody should be able to own or restrict distribution of digital content, and operate the site under this belief.
-
Is it possible to remain anonymous on this website? What benefits do I get from registering?
You can enjoy most of the benefits of our site without an account. But if you do decide to create an account, you will be able to utilize custom filters to hide content you don't want to see, vote on posts, curate a list of favorite posts, send private messages, and not have to solve captchas when performing certain tasks.
-
Who runs this site?
We are a very small team of people that just want to post ponies and give our friends the tools to do the same. You can find out who we are exactly on the staff page.
-
How can I help out on the site?
Post ponies! The best way you can help make this place better is by uploading all your pony content and making sure the tags and sources of everything already uploaded are accurate. That way your searches will continue to provide the best results for all your pony needs.
-
Is Twibooru affiliated with any other sites?
We are not affiliated with any other site, company, or organization. We want to remain as independent as possible.
Media, Tags, and Sources
-
What are tags?
Tags are how we stay organized. They are used to describe posts, telling you who the artist or author is, what characters are featured, the theme, a rating, and more. By using tags, everyone is able to easily find that exact item they want to find. Read more on our Tag Guidelines page.
-
What tags should I add?
Tags should tell you what is in the post: What characters are featured, what the theme is, whether or not there are any original characters, relevant items displayed or talked about, and meta information — such as the artist, author, editor, and rating. There is a helpful tag table that will pop up below the tag editing box that contains many of the most commonly used tags. Read more on our Tag Guidelines page.
-
Can I add any tag I want?
No. Tags must accurately reflect the content or metadata of the post. Adding random, nonsensical, or irrelevant tags, as well as removing valid tags, is considered tag vandalism and if done intentionally could result in a ban. Read more on our Tag Guidelines page.
-
I found two tags that mean the same thing, what should I do?
If it's keeping you awake at night, contact us and we'll try to correct it.
-
Who can edit tags and the source URL?
Everypony! Even you!
-
How do I update a post?
If a post has been updated or fixed by the artist, upload it and report the old item as a duplicate of the new. Click the "Reporting" tab on the old item, then
Updated or previously uploaded,
and enter the ID number (example: https://twibooru.org/42069) of the new post. All duplicate reports are processed manually by a member of the site staff and will be looked at as soon as possible. -
What is the difference between favorites and votes?
Upvoting ( ) and downvoting ( ) let you show your approval or disapproval for a post privately; it only changes the score of the post. Favoriting ( ) is public and gives you a way to more easily find your favorite posts again. If you favorite an item, an upvote will also automatically be added. You can always remove that upvote if you wish.
-
How do I get a custom description for my original character's tag?
Contact us and we'll see what we can do.
Accounts
-
How do I delete my account?
It is not possible to fully delete accounts. You can request that your account be deactivated and have all personally identifiable information (such as your email and IP address) wiped by contacting [email protected] from the email address associated with the account. Note that if you wish to have your username no longer associated with the site, you must change it before submitting the request.
-
How do I change my username?
You may rename your account by going to your Account Settings page, and looking for the the link to rename your account at the top of the page. Please be aware that you may only rename your account once every ninety days; if the link is not visible, that means your account was renamed too recently.
Bans and Deletions
-
When I try to post it tells me my IP is high risk!
If your IP address has been marked as high risk, you will need to create an account to use the site.
-
Why am I banned? How do I appeal it?
Ban messages will include a reason for the ban. Note that, due to how IP addresses work, you may have ended up with an IP address that was banned while someone else used it. So if you know how and if it's possible, you may want to try renewing your IP address.
Contact us if you want to appeal a ban, or you think a ban is incorrectly affecting you.
-
Why was my post deleted?
We actively monitor posts and will delete anything that violates the Site Rules. The rules attempt to give detailed accounts of what is not allowed and will be taken down. If you feel your post was taken down in error, please don't re-upload it — contact us and we'll talk! We're only human and are prone to errors, unlike our alicorn overlords.
Technical Questions
-
Why do I keep getting logged out?
To remain logged in, check the box labelled
Remember Me
on the log in screen. Additionally, an occasional bug in the authentication framework the site uses may prevent you from using more than one simultaneous login. Please log out of all instances and try again. -
I have a great idea for how to improve the site! How can I suggest it?
Contact us and we'll see what we can do.
-
I found a bug or am having trouble with a site feature, what should I do?
Contact us and we'll see what we can do.
-
What software does the site run?
The site is powered by a custom Ruby on Rails application. It is a modified version of the original booru-on-rails software that used to power Derpibooru. See also the Source Code page.
-
Why aren't you using Philomena?
Philomena is the name of the software that currently powers Derpibooru. We aren't big fans of it and are unfamiliar with the programming language it is written in (Elixir). As such, we've decided to stick with what is familiar and has been the tried and true backend of Derpibooru for most of the past 9 years.
