Egad I’ve been working on this series for 5 years and this the 14th state I’ve only done! I really need to just focus on this series so I can finish it. Anyway Indiana is up and while I don’t know any Indiana Bronies, I do hope to have done this state justice. This proved to be another hard one, at least for what to pick for the 2nd pony. The title comes from the state nickname. Apparently, Indiana locals are called Hoosiers lol. Where the nickname come from is still pretty much unknown. I am going in alphabetical order folks, so thanks for being patient with me in this process.
Crossroads- The motto of Indiana is “The Crossroads of America”, hence the name of this pony. When I first thought of this state, the first thing I thought of was it’s famous motorcar race- the Indy 500. So I knew I had to make a bony representing that. Crossroads’ color scheme is based around the emblem, which has black, white, and gold in it. His cutiemark had to be a checkered flag. Crossroads was the easier of the two to come up with.
Shining Freedom- This mare was inspired by several things. First I got her cutie mark and blue mane from the state flag. Also the torch on the flag represents liberty and enlightenment. I found out that Indiana was one of the states that had the Underground Railroad during the Civil War times (in which black slaves fled from south to the north). So I wanted Shining Freedom to represent an African American since they risked so much to earn their freedom. The yellows around the hooves and muzzle and ears represent that light of hope they’ll make it.
Overall I do like these ponies. The next state will be Iowa. Again thanks for your patience and tell me what you think of these 2?
