DM: So what I'm getting is that while we're generally okay with destroying a player-character's home in this exceptional circumstance... we'd rather avoid collateral loss of life if at all possible.

Discord: What do these lengthy negotiations actually accomplish, anyway?
DM: <ahem> We've already established that Ponyville was evacuated. We can say that Fluttershy helped with efforts to get animals out of the crossfire.
Fluttershy: Yay!
DM: However, because I can't resist adding just a hint of danger... there is one stubborn owl in the tree who stayed behind. To help "keep watch."
Fluttershy: Uh-oh! Oh no!
DM: As for the talking books... Well, everypony knew Tirek was out to drain ponies, so no one was expecting him to destroy the library. I don't think they were a priority. But! Twilight has a lot of power at her disposal. She may be able to teleport them somewhere.
Pinkie Pie: Doesn't this place have a basement? I seem to remember getting brain-scanned in a basement.
Applejack: This might be one of the weirder conversations we've had in a li'l while...
