god it’s been so long since I’ve posted art. So sorry! just been busy with college final projects and what-not.

just a few canon couples in my NextGenverse, Astoriverse!! A few of these are new to my verse (except for Twi and Flash, Trender and AJ, and Scoots and Featherweight), but I drew them anyway due to them being the unpopular or generic ship [*cough*Flashlight]

So for this, I will be explaining why I like the specific ship, and summarizing how they got together in my verse. Annnnd revealing the names of some new NextGens!!

FlashLight [Twilight Sparkle x Flash Sentry]

Whoops, a horribly generic ship that I happen to like! Simply due to the fact that I can’t really see Twilight with anyone else other than Flash, and by the fact that she has a canonical crush on him. After the events of Sunset Shimmer, Twilight ends up pursuing Flash for his affections. It was a tedious task for Twilight- constantly reading books and researching How To Be Attractive™ and how to win a stallion’s heart- all that mushy stuff. Until, surprise, she was approached by him. Twilight never dated before, so she was extremely cautious within the first few months into their relationship, but eventually let loose a bit. She was absolutely dumbfounded when he proposed to her, nearly passing out when all her research on the odds of getting married in a first relationship went down the drain. Around a year after engagement, they married, and Flash became the Prince of Friendship due to Twilight’s royal status. They have two foals- Prince Cosmic Dawn [oldest: 20] and Princess Nova Light [youngest: 18].

Chryslestia [Celestia x Chrysalis]

You can blame Lopoddity for getting me into this ship. Originally, I never planned to pair Celestia with anyone, but that fell short. In my AU, during the end event of the changeling reformation, Chrysalis ended up surrendering, but was unable to become a reformed changeling queen due to her being in a love-starved state for so long. Her only solace was to share love with another [like Thorax before his reformation], and that ended up being Celestia, to her own surprise and reluctance. Chrysalis is still weary and weirded out by the many forms of affection, but secretly does enjoy the odd kiss in public or snuggle fest by the fire with her big bird wife. They have twin foals- Prince Love Bite and Princess Ethereal [both age 21].

TrenderJack [Trenderhoof x Applejack]

Adore this one ever since Trendy was introduced, although canonically she rejects him. It still brought in a possible love interest for her [though it crashed and burned]. But, in my AU, Applejack ends up reuniting with Trenderhoof after a good while of separation. After he first left Ponyville, Trenderhoof ended up announcing his break from being a nomadic writer, as the events of his and AJ’s first meeting threw him off the inspiration rail. After meeting up again in what seemed like hundreds of years to him, he and AJ ended up talking the past out, and he apologized for “coming on too strong to a mare with such simple ways”. That of course left her mildly offended, but she passive aggressively forgave him. Months later, their casual friendship built into a proper relationship, with AJ coming onto him this time. They took it slow, but AJ was the first of the Mane 7 to marry. Before marrying, AJ gave birth to their son, Plaid Apple [age: 22], and a few years after, they had their daughter Serene Cider [age: 19]. They currently live on Sweet Apple Acres, and Trenderhoof has resumed his writing, though now he is more home-based rather than nomadic.

FeatherLoo [Scootaloo x Featherweight]

Definitely an odd ship, but I really think these two would be a strangely good couple. It’s like a story of the dweeb who gets the hardcore punk chick. Their relationship was completely a set-up between Applebloom and her coltfriend Pipsqueak during their mid teenage years. It was a blind date sort of thing, but Scootaloo was awfully reluctant about it at first. Featherweight showed up to her surprise with a mix of a orange and red rose bouquet, a cute little blue bow tie and his mane was slicked up. Scoot thought he looked ridiculous, but admittedly found him oddly adorable. They both were shocked to see each other on the blind date, and Feather didn’t think she’d be the type of mare to do this. She agreed with that statement, but she didn’t regret it. They aren’t married yet, but they have a son named Double Dare [age: 14].

ColorOctavia [Coloratura x Octavia]

Instantly fell in love with this because of that gosh dang Argodaemon. Quite an interesting pair and I love them??? However in my AU, they don’t really have a picture perfect relationship. They had been seeing each other for a few months, but on their fifth date, they ended up going to a local bar incognito and got absolutely drunk. Their drunken tryst lead to a good ol’ gender-swapping spell with some magical assistance, which lead to the conception of their only son Crescendo [age: 21], who Coloratura birthed a month prematurely. After Coloratura gave birth, the two mares decided to marry, for the benefit of their son, but their marriage was far from picture perfect as they made it seem to the public eye. They mutually decided to divorce after 4 years, and still remain friends and musical colleagues. For a while, young Crescendo thought he caused the divorce between his moms, and still partially blames it on himself as an adult, thinking his birth was a mistake, even though his mothers explained the reasons to him when he got older.

GabBelle [Gabby x Sweetie Belle]

Strange and a very rare pairing, yes, but so good. I like the idea of their two clashing personalities melding into something as odd as a unicorn and a gryphon. In my AU, after parting ways when they were still young, Sweetie Belle kept up her contact with Gabby through letters and occasional visits from Gabby. Eventually the hyper gryphon decided to move to Ponyville when Sweetie Belle was a late teenager. This lead to them getting closer and they evidently started dating. Gabby also ended up getting a tattooed cutie mark on each side, of two feathers and a trophy, since she biologically cannot obtain one. The two got married quickly, and are currently raising their Hippogryph daughter, Bellatrix [age: 13], who is biologically theirs through the magical assistance of Twilight.
