Taking a Self-Insert Too Seriously page 4

Because I just had to include a "wrong branch" joke. I regret nothing. But I can't say the same for my character.

This is probably my favorite page, if only because it perfectly captures the dynamic between J and Siph. Especially in panels 3 through 6. Telling Siph something annoys someone is a big mistake, and J knows this. I can't help laughing every time I ready panel 3.
But for all the mischief Siph causes, J is still a bit of a papa wolf when it comes to his safety, which is why he was suddenly able to grow a spine when he thought Firebrand was going to point his rifle at Siph.

Question: How concerned should I be about how much entertainment I take in making my self-insert's life difficult? The parts of this comic I laughed the hardest at while making were at my own expense.

One thing I hated while making this page was trying to figure out how to position J to be partially blocking Siph in that second panel, without making it look like Siph's nose was between J's legs. This is not that kind of comic. I will never make that kind of comic.
