In celebration of Nightmare Night, Princess Luna took on her guise as Nightmare Moon to give the ponies a joy of fright, as was tradition for the celebration. As she made a trip to Ponyville though, she came upon one young colt named Swift Wing. He was a Bat Pony, and they were known to be great night time guards. But what saddened her, was that Swift Wing was blind, on top of being an orphan. She felt it was such a cruel fate to be a night pony and only see permanent darkness, robbed of seeing her beautiful night. But she also thought he was very brave and honorable, dressing up as a Night Guard, and taking a trip out on Nightmare Night.

He offered her all his candy, since he wasn’t really big on munching candy himself, always scared he’d come across a vile flavor. Luna completely understood that, and didn’t blame him for being cautious. She then felt, for offering all his candy, and braving Nightmare Night in darkness only few knew, she would award him a treat of his own. Fresh warm milk. And milk from the All Powerful Princess of the Night was one of the highest honors any foal could receive……. well, that and adoption, which Luna was planning to do after her soon-to-be son finished his late night, or in their case, midnight lunch.
