Hello, everycreature! Glad you could make it to our weekly meeting of creating comics for each new episode of season 8! This week’s comic is based on Fall Weather Friends… I mean, Non-Compete Clause. Hey, remember when the show had character development? I’m kidding of course; obviously AJ and RD’s competitive nature is a part of their personality that can’t and shouldn’t just be learned away, and they’re trying to deal with a new situation (being teachers) and figuring out how to do it well… but I did find it interesting just how many comparisons I was able to make between this and Fall Weather Friends, from the competition to find out who’s better to the final contest in the woods that ends up with the two getting in each other’s way so much that they both lose… sort of. I do like how they showed BOTH extremes of poor teamwork, including where the teammates try to follow the other’s advice too much so that nothing gets accomplished.

How I was EXPECTING the episode to end was after Applejack and Rainbow Dash got out of their Pirates of the Caribbean cage, the students would suggest/AJ and RD would suggest after a moment of clarity/the debris of the cage would randomly build a bridge made out of both vines AND branches, much more structurally stable and a physical testament to what TRUE teamwork ACTUALLY is to punctuate the episode. That didn’t happen, so I turned to memes to make one in a comic instead. I don’t normally use memes for punchlines as I’m afraid the joke is too obvious, but I felt it appropriate here to get the point across in a familiar format. Between drawing the Student Six for the first time and the bridge at the end, this comic was pretty annoying to draw, but practice is practice I suppose.
