Azrael is a lab creation that went wrong. A scientist was trying to make a foal for he and his wife to raise, since they were unable to conceive a child. But something went terribly wrong. Instead of a pony, a terrifying creature was made. The scientist knew that he and his wife couldn’t possibly raise such an ugly child, so he abandoned little Azrael in the Everfree Forest. Azrael was taken in by Zecora and was nursed to health and was raised with her. He still lives in Everfree Forest, but doesn’t get very much social interaction. Everypony he’s met, they’d always run away from his terrifying looks.
