Description:

Free does have a horn, he is a Unicorn. I just forgot to draw it while in the sketching phase, so canon is his horn didn’t really start growing until he was about eight years old. Enjoy the story below!

Free Form took rest for the night, hiding away in his quarters. He let out a small sigh and narrowed his eyes as he looked through one of his old journals. This one having the date ’1689 – 1702’ burnt into the leather cover. As Free flipped through page to page, a folded paper fell out onto his chest. Free raised an eyebrow and lifted the paper up, unfolding it. There he saw a sketch of his young self, the days of Azad Saadiq, the pony who Free Form once was. The Shadhavar stared at the photo, feeling his body relax and his mind come to rest as he thought of an old memory for which he had thought he’d forgotten.

In the small village of Sakakah, the joyful sound of young ponies playing echoed throughout. School was finally finished, and the children did as they did every day. Played their games of tag and fantasized their stories of hero and villains. A mare walked out from one of the wooden shacks that dotted the landscape and called out to the children playing in the field. “Azad, taeal ‘iilaa huna min fadlik!” [Azad, come here please!]

Azad’s ear twitched, and he turned, gazing up at his mother. She was a beautiful mare, eyes a vibrant green that seemed to glow. They were tired eyes, but eyes filled with compassion. The mare’s coat, one that shone in the sun in the same way that silk did was a soft blue with specks of grey and white, it looked as though she had been out in the sun for one too many days leaving her fur looking sun bleached. Many looked at it as being her charm though. And her mane, short, messy, and colored like an evergreen was peppered with the same white and grey hairs left her hair looking like a Christmas tree that had been lopped off at the middle. She was by far the most beautiful mare in the town though, and everypony knew it.

Azad waved goodbye to his friends and started up the hill to their home. His eyes shimmered with hope and curiosity, and he had a never ending smile on his face. As he reached the stone stairs, he called out to his mother in return, curious as to what she had to say. “‘am?” [Mother?]

“Azad. How was your day at school. Did Mullah Mudaris teach you anything today?” Silk asked, leading Azad inside with one of her hooves.

Azad nodded in response, his smile only widening as he prepared the story he had to share with her. “Mullah Mudaris let me try one of the Adept Level Spells! Um… It was the trans-modification one, uh.. yeah! The one that can combine two objects together to create a new object! He let me try it and I did it!”

Silk rubbed her hoof against Azad’s cheek causing his cheeks and ears to turn pink. “I’m proud of you Azad, I’m sure you’ll make all us Shadhavar’s proud, I love you Azad.”

“I love you too Mom…”

Free slowly came back to the present, looking up at the wooden ceiling above him. He sighed, folding up the paper, before placing it back in the journal and closing his eyes for some much needed shuteye.
