Claudis had decided to train Daniel in using his transforming powers during a family visit, after checking up on Lady who was pregnant. He had a secondary form, just as Lady did. But when wanting to participate in the activity, Annie could not changed like her twin had. After struggling, Claudis confirmed that his granddaughter did not have that power. Why? He was not sure… Perhaps the power did not take. In light of this discovery, Claudis recommended Annie go into the house and practice her potion making skills.

Annie loved making potions, it was her passion… she just wish it wasn’t the only thing she was good at.. Living in Ponyville was tough for the first few weeks the small family of just three at the time moved there… facing harsh jokes and ridicule for being half-dragon.. However, Annie was more accepted than her mother and brother, as she appeared to not display many dragon traits and behaviors.. she seemed more… normal… something she did not relish in, but hated…

Taking his dragon form, Daniel walked over to the house and stood in the doorway. He had not yet learned how to speak telepathically like his grandfather, the only “words” he was able to speak were growls and groans.

Daniel: GROOOOOAR

Annie: That’s great, Danny..

Daniel: ??…. groooowl

Annie: No, I’m fine. I’m just.. reading. Potions, you know? Heheh..

Daniel: grunts and walks over, nudging her

Annie: H-hey! Stop it, I said I’m fine!

Daniel: snorts and growls

Annie: It’s none of your bees wax, Danny..!

Daniel: GROOOOAR

Annie: Because it shouldn’t concern you! So- go outside and play with grandpa!

Daniel: makes a slight howling like sound as he sits

Annie: Ugh! You’re so stubborn! I said I’m fine, now leave me alone!

Daniel: GROOAR

Annie: Because I want to be alone, okay!?

Daniel: …… eras droop down and whines

Annie: Yes, Danny, I am upset. What was your first clue?! Or can you STILL not read up on MY feelings!?!?

Daniel: flinches and grunts

Annie: It means not you or anyone can tell! It’s always about you, isn’t it?!

Daniel: looks at her questioningly and lowers his head

Annie: Don’t give me that! I don’t want your pity! Just because you’re the one with powers!

Daniel: ears perk up as he changes back into a pony

Daniel shook his head, wobbling a bit from the energy he used to take that form.

Daniel: Is… shakes his head again Is that what this is about..? Because you can’t turn into a dragon..?

Annie: Like YOU care..

Daniel: Annie, of course I care.. Why would you think I don’t, you’re my sister..

Annie: Well sometimes I feel like more of your keeper than your sister!

Daniel: ears fold back I never asked you to be my “keeper” in case you forgot… You always smother me like I’m some helpless foal..

Annie: “Annie, please keep an eye on your brother”, “Annie, keep Daniel away from those ponies, they look like a bad influence”, “Annie,leave your brother be, he needs to be alone right now”

Daniel’s ears flattened to his head as he listened to Annie make ill-tempered imitations of their mother.

Annie: Just because you’re so special and have these dumb dragon powers….!

Daniel: …. I’d think you’d be happy not to have them.. You’re the most normal pony in this family..

Annie: I don’t want to be normal! I want to feel like I actually belong in this family without being your BABYSITTER!!!

Daniel: If it’s such a hastle to be my sister, then why even bother following me around…? Why bother talking to me, why bother helping me when I don’t need it…?!

Annie: Oh please you always need help!

Daniel: No I—

Annie: Because you’re a clueless, deadpan idiot who can’t even crack a smile or read other ponies’ emotions unless you BADGER them into telling you!!!

Annie panted with her eyes shut tight as she felt her inner anger and envy pour out.. only until her heart stopped racing did she realize what she had just said.. Her eyes opened and she looked up, for the first time in a year, her twin displayed a face of shock and hurt at her stinging words. His mouth gaped open, but he closed it, choking up and not sure what to say. Annie stared back at him, until she saw his eyes watering as tears dripped down his cheeks, before he turned and ran up the stairs.

Annie: D-danny! Danny wait, I didn’t mean that!

SLAM!!!

Danie’ls bedroom door slammed shut, shaking the house a little. Annie plopped on the hard wood floor and stared down at her hooves.

Annie:……….. I’m sorry, brother…..
