ive had this mlp rarepair in my brain for years which is Soarin x Unnamed Earth Mare # 1 colloquially identified as Masquerade on some wikis lmao

idea being that they both regularly attend galas and other aristocratic events for their occupations.... neither one likes it very much...... and they end up bonding over how much they dislike high society and they goof off and chat with each other when they arent fraternizing with other party attendees and whatnot. :) they both tend to keep conversations pretty light and silly, soarin doesn't enjoy talking about wonderbolts stuff and masquerade's equally evasive about what she does outside of these gatherings.

fleur isn't really even a focus for me rn but she's involved with masquerade so i needed to figure her out as well.

my headcanon is that the Fleur de Lis in the show isn't really her, I figure as a way to work with the contradictions presented in beta canons i.e. where she's a fashion designer (and one of rarity's inspirations i think???) in some lore,,,,, and the other lore where she's a retired royal guard,,,,, headcanon that that one, who becomes fancy pant's personal bodyguard,,,, is a turncoat changeling. :) i'm not the first person to have that idea so likeeee me no take cred or anything, it's just an inference u can take away from one of the lines of dialogue an infiltrated changeling says to her about (paraphrase) "her leaving because no one liked her" and she sighs in response looks away vaguely haha.

wanted to design her original changeling look as well as her reformed one, kinda wanted to base her off of an orchid mantis and also lilies (fleur de lis harhar). figure her changeling name is Mantis.
