What if instead of Gen 5 being about different kinds of ponies getting along and making the society of Gen 4 feels regressive by proxy, it was about Sunny having to make friends and peace with NON unicorns, earth or pegasus ponies?
What if Gen 5 was a soft revitalizing of the gen 1 "My Little Pony friends" line and also a send up of Gen 4's pony-only privilege problems? Guardians of Harmony and the dedication FiM's child and adult fanbases should be proof enough that non-pony characters have pull.
