Hey everypony, it's about time I posted more Spyro themed crossover art and I figured I'd use one I actually commissioned last year but never got around to posting. I figure this is a good time for it, what with my New Year's Resolution to ditch the coomer lifestyle for good and be wholesome-trappy from now on. ^{^}

This is part of a series I simply called: Dragon Training, which for now is just three parts...I've been entertaining the idea of adding more to the concept, if I do I'll give it a proper series tag and keep you guys updated. X3

Now: It's time for Spike to learn how to be a proper dragon, luckily for him he has the most radical buddy to help teach him! X3

Spyro is ready to walk his brother-from-another-egg-mother through the basics of dragon combat, so he can learn how to stomp gnorcs, rhinocs and any other bad guys that cause him trouble (probably timberwolves from the Everfree Forest, honestly) with style...skateboard practice will come a bit later I'm sure, once Spike is considered gnarly enough. >//w//<

A long day of training makes for a welcome rest come nightfall...certainly Sparx seems to think so, having fallen right asleep already! X3

Spyro and Spike stay up for a while, going over a review of the areas that his student excelled at and those that need improvement, as well as just some general playful rough-housing between them. They'll make a proper dragon of him yet! ^{^}

I like the dynamic going on between these two, it's adorable! Spike being given some healthy learning about what it means to be a dragon is a concept the show itself did rather dirty by not giving him a dragon friend-or even anything adjacent to a positive dragon-influence in his life-until the Gauntlet of Fire episode at the earliest. v.v

I get the message they were going for was "your real parents are the ones who raise you, nurture, protect and care for you" and all that's all well and good for kids to learn, especially since in real life we're all members of one human species. But it doesn't change the fact that Spike is a dragon, it is an inarguable fact that he is a biologically and physiologically different being from a pony, even if his values are fundamentally Equestrian. And based on what we've seen from dragons in FiM alone, that means he's going to live for thousands of years, grow to be the size of a mountain and he can't go on acting like he's just an unusually shaped pony forever...eventually he'll need some proper education and guidance on how to be a good dragon too. <:P

If you ask me though, Spyro's a far cooler teacher then any character the show could provide anyway. And I like the little-brother-from-another-egg-mother dynamic he has going on with Spike, very sweet and cute. ^{^}

You know what, now that I think about it...in Spyro canon dragon eggs are brought to the Dragon Lands by fairies every twelve years...and while I know the show doesn't really focus on dragon-egg conception at all, FiM offers no points of lore that make this interpretation incorrect - especially since we don't know how the eggs in either show are created or where they come from...
...so hypothetically speaking; if Spyro did have a related egg - say an egg that was part of the same clutch as him - that got lost and was eventually discovered near Equestria, only to hatch a few years after him by assistance of pony magic... would anyone ever know? O.o

Am I going on a long winded tangent to try and justify a fanfiction that Spike is actually Spyro's blood-brother, separated from birth and hatched a few years after him? Yes I am, but I'm not going to apologise for it so don't bother asking. X3
