Shusho isn't this gruff mare's real name, but she refuses to reveal it. The no-nonsense captain of the fishing vessel, Daiyamondo, Shusho has had her sealegs longer than most of her current crew have been walking. An old, seasoned sailor, she's been all over Equestria. While its known she was once part of one branch of the Royal Navy, she dislikes talking about her service. In fact, she dislikes talking about most things regarding her past, especially if it begins to cut into precious fishing time. The Daiyamondo was once a whaling ship, since refitted to better work with nets for smaller catch. Nopony actually knows very much about her beyond that, though there are rumors that she was a pirate once... The way she looks at Scarlett Banner on the rare times they cross paths gives an air of intimate familiarity. It carries the kind of disdain one can only have by being somepony's ex. Regardless of her history, she takes great care of her crew, and has a great patience for their antics (much to Doc Holystone's chagrin).
