i’ve mentioned that soarin is a stay-at-home dad, but he’s not the only one. flash too has retired from his post, and become a full-time househusband.
when twilight was pregnant with alchemy, flash vowed to always be there for twilight. and he decided to retire from his post, and take care of her so she’d never have to worry about what’s going on at home. and twilight was very appreciative of this, as she was able to quickly resume with her duties as a seer of equestria with little to worry of her home life. while flash was able to spend as much time as he wanted with his family.
flash is extremely close with his kids, and he loves, loves, loves being a dad. he spends most of his days finding ways to make his family’s life better, trying to learn more about what they’re interested in--even if he doesn’t always get it. and this makes alchemy so very happy, that he comes running to dad with every exciting piece of information he‘d just learned.
unfortunately though, twilight on the other hand is not…as devoted to familial duties. she’s just not…cut out for it? it’s not like she doesn’t love her kids. but it‘s just time consuming, and she doesn’t even really like kids in the first place either, so it just doesn’t line up. because of this, twilight has lost it a little in terms of returning her son’s desire for affection. and everything alchemy tries to do to gain his mother’s attentions, twilight unintentionally reacts with dismissal.
the yellow pegasus has done his best to urge his wife to give her son any kind affection, but she only responds with half-hearted promises of trying. flash knows she can do better, but he will never push his family out of their comfort zone when they don’t want to. so for now, he just does his best to make up for all the love that twilight doesn’t give.
