Description:
Some more voices for the rest of the characters in the Ester Dracos arc of MLSiaD!
Hosta/Rouge - Given that Hosta has a somewhat sultry personality, I thought something like the Kathleen Delaney version of Rouge fit good for her. Not a real gem thief of course and she's not a manipulator either, just a little flirtatious but very outgoing and caring. Hosta is the more serious of the three sisters and this voice also gives her a somewhat professional vibe.
Amaryllis/Jessie - I wanted something high-energy for Ammy, but not like in the style of Pinkie Pie, so while thinking of movies of my childhood, I thought of Toy Story and Jessie came to mind. Ammy is quite a talker and full of energy and Joan Cusack is such a perfect fit for her. Jessie's personality is definitely how I see Ammy with her acting and her antics. She'd be like an annoying sister that you still can't help but love.
Daisy/Penny Ling - I had a hard time deciding for Daisy at first, but I have been thinking a lot lately about getting back into Littlest Pet Shop (2012) and I remember how adorable Penny Ling the panda was with Jocelyne Loewen's voice. I love how she's got a bit of a soft-spoken personality, but is still upbeat and not totally shy. I picture Daisy being a lot like that. Really happy and cheerful and a total sweetheart, albeit a bit naive maybe and hesitant to ever say a harsh word. She'd be like a good mix of Pinkie Pie and Fluttershy.
Myosoti/Hide Yoshida - I chose mostly western voices for these characters despite being asian dragons, and I wanted to be careful about stereotyping, but Myosoti was an exception. I based him loosely off of Shigeru Miyamoto and wanted for him to have a Japanese voice, and Ken Watanabe was too good to pass up. He has such a friendly and sage voice and that fits very well for Myosoti. It isn't over-the-top or offensive; it's an authentic voice that lets you know he's wise and professional. Watanabe usually sounds the same, but I am most familiar with his role in Detective Pikachu, so I used Lt. Hide Yoshida for reference.
Antirrhinum/Shifu - I wanted Emperor Antirrhinum to also have a wise and experienced voice and given the very Asian aesthetic that Ester Dracos has, I thought of Master Shifu from Kung Fu Panda. Not an actual asian voice like with Myosoti, but it's still a wise old man that Dustin Hoffman pulls off extremely well. Antirrhinum wouldn't talk with such high energy and get angry much since he's been around for a while and is much more reserved, but he serves as somewhat of a guide in this story and would definitely sound like a kung fu master.
That's all for now. Tell me what you think of these choices in the comments below! :)
