Record Check (Best of 2012-2017)
Q. Hey Shou, your art at 2012 looks better than most people’s starts - surely you didn’t start like that?
A. Check this over here dshou.deviantart.com/art/DShou… - but basically I went overdrive on art studies to get all the core learning out of the way. Obviously I did try drawing here and there over my whole life before ponies, so it’s not like I literally started from 0 or anything.
Q. Why IS your style all over the place!?!?
A. Step 1, Copy as much core concepts out of anime drawings as you possibly could to the point of implosion. Step 2, take a step back and try to improve on some of the elements. Step 3, take another step back and try getting a better understanding of all of the elements. Step 4, get lazy repeatedly and lament about the fact you weren’t as lazy about art in your earlier years.
