Dumbbell and Hoops have been best friends since they were small..they actually never had crushes on each other until they became adults. Mostly due to figuring out their sexuality.
Hoops asked Dumbbell out to the latter’s utter shock after an intense hoofball practice for their local college. He sputtered that there was no way he’d go out with Hoops’ sloppy, lanky ass...until he took a shower...or they both took one together. Hoops was smiling like a fool the whole way to the locker room as Bell lead him with a wing over his shoulder.
They eloped.
They are still deeply in love! They rarely have arguments despite Bell’s awful temper.
They both live in Ponyville and own multiple cats.
Because of this they see a lot of a certain, grumpy and green teenager pegasus hanging around and cat-sitting since Hoops and Bell leave for Cloudsdale for work.
Both stallions are not colorful. In pegasus society brighter colors are considered desirable and dull ones are not. Though they lack the color, they do have unique markings. Rainbowdash would retort “at least I don’t have dull rocks as a color palette” whenever they bullied her.
The two got along due to this since they both have heard comments on their pelts throughout their lives.
They still have an intense rivalry (Hoops less so) with Rainbowdash but it is less hostile now...even though Bell can’t help but call her names.
Pegasus are known - and stereotyped - for being wild and aggressive looking. Here Bell is showing off his sharp teeth to somepony he deems beneath him (RD lol). While Earth ponies and unicorns have sharper canines, the more beastly imagery has been given to their winged cousins. This is seen as ironic coming from Earth ponies.
I think I shipped these two before my break?? I don't remember LOL. I’m not sure if they have kids or not. They're def the Bert and Ernie of my verse. Honeydew Raindrop usually doesn't like adult stallions but these two are cool (cuz they have CATS).
I will try to one day do a headcanon of pony colors and markings. Pegasus tend to have the most unique ones. If it wasn’t obvious Hoops has an...interesting, large one that looks very similar to a jersey. His socks look like athletic socks. Sometimes a pony’s talent directly shows on their own self but it is extremely rare. This should have made Hoops more desirable but it’s not something pegasus ever cared for and is more of a unicorn thing.
Also, the lighting come out of Bell is his pegasus essence. Think of it like a scent marking kind of thing when done close to something they are possessive of =w= I nabbed the headcanon from Lopoddity and I first put it in here
