I have to admit, as much as I want to be a natural hipster snob about how out-of-place this scene is in the overall context of the show, going through it frame-by-frame has given me a strong appreciation for the artistry and boldness on display.
Transcript:
DM: When the smoke clears, it seems to have worked. Where there was once Tirek in a crater, there's now just a patch of earth.
Twilight Sparkle: Not that I epxect this to be the finishing blow, but... If it was, how are we supposed to retrieve all the magic he stole from his body?
P‌inkie Pie: Eh! I didn't really think that far ahead, sorry.
DM: It's a moot point anyway, because it's his final turn of the round, and he's going to carve his way out.
Twilight Sparkle: "Carve?"
DM: With a giant laser, cutting a ring through the earth all around you.
Twilight Sparkle: Oh boy.
DM: Next thing you know...
Tirek: GRRRAAAGH!!!
DM: The city-block-sized chunk of stone you're standing on is lifted into the air by Tirek's bare hands!
Twilight Sparkle: What's he going to do, throw me–
DM: He immediately throws you.
Twilight Sparkle: Dang it. I know it's not "my" turn, but can I at least fly out of the way before I'm crushed under a ton of rock?
DM: Sure, we can say that's a reaction or something.
Twilight Sparkle: Thank goodness.
SFX: (BOOM!)
Rainbow Dash: Awright, now it's finally, FINALLY my turn! Here's what we're gonna do: Twilight's gonna fly at Tirek–
DM: Not so fast. Because Tirek is in a completely, unbelievably enraged state due to these antics... We're gonna say he spends an action point to make another attack.
Applejack: We're throwin' out the rulebook to play cinema of the mind, but we're also usin' action points?
DM: It's a figurative action point.
