A Nightly Flight

a funny/heart warming pic I drew just recently.
Just recently, my Dragon OC Nightraid, has gotten adopted into a new family, something Nightraid has been dreaming about for a very long time. the ponies in question are both Dream Vania & Advent Playwright, Advent being the son of Author Brainstorm, a Vampony.

Anyway, the story behind this pic is that one night, Nightraid is having mild insomnia. Unable to sleep, Nightraid gets up and walks around Author's castle to help tire himself out, but to no avail and sits on a rock. Author, who was outside himself, walks over to Nightraid and asks him what's the matter. Nightraid states that he can't sleep, and nothing he does works. Author smiles, then tells Nightraid to hop on his back. Nightraid complies and does so. Author then takes off into the sky, high above the clouds, giving Nightraid a spectacular view of Equestria. Despite Nightraid having wings however, he can only fly/hover above the ground 20-25 feet for a span of 5-6 minutes, as he would tire out his wings as they aren't fully developed yet. Nightraid is nervous about being so high, and Author being as mischievous as always, takes advantage of this and starts to do barrel rolls & cart wheels, much to Nightraid shock and terror. Nightraid tightly embraces Author's neck, pleading him to stop. Author lets out his iconic laugh and obeys his command. Minutes after the stunt Author pulled, Author begins to sing a soothing song to help calm the young Dragon. As he sings, Nightraid's eyes start to feel heavy and lays down on his grandpa's soft neck and mane. As Author finishes his song, he notices that his grandson as successfully drifted off to sleep. Smiling, Author flies back to his castle, places Nightraid in his bed and leaves his room, feeling accomplished.
