Birdsong and warm sunlight bade Phillip Finder wake up, but he did not open his eyes immediately. He focused instead on the warm, firm weight that lay atop his chest, wrapped within his arms, and listened to the music of her quiet snores. The familiar scent of humid jungle air, ancient stone, and jasmine tickled his nostrils and brought a smile to his face.
When he did open his eyes, he beheld a golden pegasus sprawled atop him, right where she'd been last night when they both tumbled onto the couch in exhaustion after finally returning to the safe house. She lay with her head atop his heart, a small puddle of drool forming on his shirt next to her mouth. Her undershirt and pants outlined her sleek, well-toned body, accentuated by scars from her many scrapes with death; her wings and tail twitched a few times in her dreams.
Smiling, he slowly raised a hand and ran it through her greyscale mane, leaning down to kiss her atop her head. She stirred with a contented murmur, a smile of her own crossing her face. She blinked and lifted her head, and the most beautiful rose-colored eyes in all of Equestria shone upon him.
"G'day," Phillip said.
"Hey," Daring Do replied and leaned up to kiss him on the lips.
