We should start by explaining our quest and then give some more information about ourselves such as where each of use is from. Listen to Scrap's answer on the whole Yggdrasil and make sure to ask how the economy works out here and if there's any way we can contribute to it. How do they get the fuel and material for their forge?
You tell Scrap about your quest, and ask if she knows anything about either Midgard, or the Yggdrasil tree. She taps a claw on her cheek thoughtfully.
Scrap: "Midgard... that's the big island over to the west, aye? Afraid all we know is that whatever creatures live there, they're too hostile for us to get inland. As for the giant tree, never heard of it."
Well, that doesn't sound promising. Still, you try your luck, and ask the captain if her crew would be willing to help you reach your destination. She shrugs at that.
Scrap: "Willing, maybe, but we don't have any soldiers or ships to travel with you. The only 'dogs in these waters who do are the Black Hounds, and this one thinks you know their trading policy by now."
You nod, knowing it all too well. While on the subject of trading, however, you tell Scrap that you are curious about how commerce works in her village. After all her crew has done for you, you feel like you should contribute a little.
Scrap: "Oh, we'll put you to work if that's what you want. Harr harr! No, we like to be generous to our guests, let alone rescues like you.
Anyway, since you asked, most of our villagers are farmers and gatherers. Between here and underwater, we've got more than enough supplies to spare. Everyone takes their fair share, then we barter the rest away with travelling merchants."
You ask Scrap about the travelling merchants she trades with.
Scrap: "They're mostly Avian airships stopping by to restock on food. Our village is on some of their trade routes, so we get visitors almost every day as they come and go along the southern coast.
That reminds me, Snap told us that you ponies from the east could make good trading partners. If it's true, then this one thinks you should put some wings on your ships, too."
Apple Basket: "Ah, my uncle works for the Tradin' Post company in Amblerta, and I reckon they've got a few zeppelins for this sorta stuff. They deal in exotic goods among other things, so maybe they'd be interested."
Scrap: "Now, that's what this one likes to hear!"
