Uh oh! I’m seeing two Mane Six ponies! But wait a minute! These aren’t the real Mane Six. These are imposters! It’s the Mean Six!

Here they are! The Mean Six! While I was not a fan of the episode, I did love those evil clones of our pony heroes, and especially Mean Twilight Sparkle. Since I made vectors of her two years ago, it was refreshing to make her again. To be honest though, I had no idea what their poses for this pic would be. Eventually I decided to have their poses be much like the Mane Six’s from their group pics. There are some differences with said poses, like with Mean Fluttershy and Mean Rarity. While Mean Twilight and Mean Rainbow Dash were easy to work on, the others were not, especially Mean Rarity and Mean Pinkie Pie. But in the end, I am so glad I got to work on this. This would also explains why they weren’t with the other villains. They should have their own compilation.

We all know that we have a dark side, and we’ve heard of evil twins, but season 8 of My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic brought us that. The heroic Mane Six have been duplicated with evil clones, created by the wicked Chrysalis in order to harness the Elements of Harmony and take over Equestria, as well as attack Starlight Glimmer out of her revenge towards her. Little did the former queen of the Changelings realized these conniving copies would prove to be impossible to control. Here’s how it all started:

At the School of Friendship, Twilight Sparkle and her friends were awaiting the arrival of a photographer pony from the Canterlot Historical Society before they would set out and head to a friendship camping retreat in the Everfree Forest. When the photographer finally arrived, she took each of the Mane Six’s photographs—while also taking a strand of hair from each of their manes. Little did anypony know, she was actually Chrysalis in disguise. The villainess desired revenge on Starlight Glimmer for taking her reign over the Changelings away from her, and she came up with a really diabolical plan to torture and destroy Starlight. In a secluded part of the Everfree Forest, the nerfarious villain attached each of the Mane Six’s photos and strands of hair to a tree in the forest and carved their cutie marks into the tree trunks. Using their likenesses and <span class="caps">DNA</span>, she created artificial copies of the Mane Six so that could wield the Elements of Harmony and serve under her so that she could build a new hive and rule as queen again. These horrible clones would be known as the Mean Six!

After creating the copies, Chrysalis tried to control them, but they refused to obey and behaved like polar opposites to their real counterparts: Mean Applejack was a compulsive liar, Mean Rarity was a thieving horder, Mean Pinkie Pie was a pessimistic grump, Mean Fluttershy was a sadistic bully, Mean Rainbow Dash was a faithless slacker, and Mean Twilight Sparkle was a tyrannical schemer; she even openly questioned Chrysalis’ tactics, asking why she didn’t simply attack the Mane Six instead of taking their hairs. Chrysalis argued that she no longer had her changeling hive and needed the Elements of Harmony in order to take over Equestria.

Chrysalis continued to deal with her artificial servants’ overall disobedience as they searched for the Elements of Harmony. However, during the search, Mean Fluttershy got distracted picking on a bird, while Mean Rainbow Dash got bored and flew off. After Mean Applejack lied to Chrysalis as to where they were, Mean Twilight suggested splitting up to cover more ground, which Chrysalis allowed. Mean Twilight took note of the fact that Chrysalis needed them more than they needed her and planned to lead the other Mean Five so they could take the Elements for themselves instead of Chrysalis. As Mean Pinkie lay on the ground bored, Mean Rarity hoarded every random object, and Mean Applejack continued lying, Chrysalis angrily commanded the three to retrieve other Mean Six. Meanwhile, the real Twilight and her friends headed for the campsite, but it was not long until the Mane Six got separated too; Fluttershy went off by herself to help a little bird that got separated from its sibling, and Pinkie Pie ventured on ahead of the others. As the rest of the Mane Six look for Fluttershy, they agreed to split up the search and meet up later at the Tree of Harmony. This when the Mane Six and their evil copies would meet…

First, Mean Twilight Sparkle ran into the real Pinkie Pie and learned from her the location of the Elements of Harmony. Elsewhere, after returning the little bird to its nest, the real Fluttershy spotted Mean Rainbow, who only snubbed her and flew off. Mean Fluttershy treated the animals badly, causing them to get angry at the real Fluttershy. Meanwhile, Applejack and Rainbow Dash ran into Mean Rarity, who mistook the real Rainbow for her clone and suddenly and greedily hoarded all of Applejack’s camping supplies for herself, and then insanely ran off when she insinuated that Applejack and Rainbow Dash were plotting to steal her belongings. When Mean Applejack encountered the real Rarity and Starlight Glimmer, she remembered that Chrysalis was seeking revenge against Starlight and decided to lead them back to the queen. Along the way, the dishonest copy of honest Applejack began yarning fake camping stories, and then hurt Starlight’s feelings, causing Starlight to run away in tears. Twilight briefly encountered Mean Rainbow and Mean Pinkie Pie, who remarked how boring the trip to the retreat was. And finally, when Mean Twilight and Pinkie ran into a hurt Fluttershy, Mean Twilight cruelly insulted her feelings and ordered her Pinkie to stay put as she left to get the others. As a result, when the Mane Six regrouped, they accused and argued bitterly with each other for things that their artificial counterparts said and did. Meanwhile, Mean Twilight also regrouped with Chrysalis, revealing the location of the Elements of Harmony just as her creator threatened to destroy her for supposedly plotting against her. Eventually, they regrouped with the rest of the copies. With her artificial minions gathered together again, Chrysalis headed toward the Tree of Harmony.

After the Mane Six and Starlight reconciled, Chrysalis and the Mean Six reached the campsite first, and the Mean Six demolished it… and Mean Rarity stole everything. Chrysalis, utterly exhausted by her minions’ insubordination and antics, commanded them to retrieve the Elements from the Tree of Harmony. Mean Twilight told the other five about her plan of taking the Elements and betraying Chrysalis. But as they reached the base of the Tree, Mean Fluttershy tripped up Mean Rarity, and started fighting. At the same time, Mean Applejack and Mean Pinkie Pie began attacking the Tree by bucking and pushing it respectively, while Mean Rainbow Dash lazily curled up between its roots, having no interest in getting involved. Mean Twilight ordered them to stop, but after she reminded them of her plan, Chrysalis discovered her creations’ true motives and engaged Mean Twilight in a beam struggle. The Elements of Harmony, however, sensed the Mean Six’s evil and reacted with a dark glow. Just as Mean Twilight overpowered Chrysalis, the Tree of Harmony grabbed the Mean Six with tendrils of light. As their bodies began melting, Mean Twilight blamed her “friends” for ruining everything before the evil doppelgängers were all destroyed, reduced to clumps of the trees they were originally. With her plans ruined and the Mean Six’s destruction, Chrysalis remarked how servants can’t be depended on, and right before she flew off the villainous changeling once again swore vengeance on Starlight Glimmer. As for the Mane Six, they repaired the campsite and have a pleasant evening with each other and their friendship, blissfully unaware of what really happened that day.
