Rarity and sunburst never really spoke before. They just knew each other as Twilights friends, and they were fine with that. Sunburst was a little nervous to speak to her-after all, she’s so gorgeous and high end, he couldn’t even think to say hi to her. And rarity thought he was sweet, but very shy. Nothing more, nothing less.

…then somehow they were stranded in a desert town, completely lost. They freaked out, naturally, but Sunburst took it upon himself to take the lead and be sure to protect her (even if he was a scaredy cat) ((and rarity did most of the protecting))

The locals were very helpful, though! The train comes back once a week, so they’d have to stay, but a kind elderly mare offered to house them for the time being. Cue Rarity shopping as much as she can while a frantic sunburst fumbled with a map, cursing himself on how they’d gotten off on the wrong stop.

During the week, they spent every second together and both of them developed a crush for the other. They both agonized over it for their own personal reasons, and it wasn’t until they made it back to Canterlot did Rarity say something about it. She asked him out, and they rest is history
