Happy Hearts warming, My little princess dear.

Happy Christmas 2020 – and a happy new year.

This will be my big holliday piece. Now in color.

I didn’t quite have the time to finish this piece before christmas. So this image was released in the holidays between christmas and new year. Though perhaps that is the best time of the year. When all the thanks have been said, all the presents opened, and all the obligations are past. Tthat you can just allow yourself to crash – couch crash – and just allow yourself to do a whole bunch of nothing.

The holidays can really be a stressful season. Doubly so when you have a kingdom to run. Triply so when you have a family.

The ponies of future equestria knew Twilight – the Princess. The organised – the elegante – the fair and just – the regal and magnificent.

The one who ran the kingdom with perfection and grace.

The one who never missed a meeting. who never failed to attend a festival. Who planned the grandest gallas and biggest events. And who’s spotless record enshured a brighter future. The one who despite her workload always radiate calm and correctness. The one who was the very model of peace and harmony.

Fewer new Twilight – the mare. The mother – The wife – The overworked and stressed – The obsessive compulsive and over analytical.

The one who just wants to come home after a long day of making sure the country isn’t running into the ground, and crash on the couch – Twilight the big, tired nerd. Who, once the crown came of, just wanted to relax. and for for her hubby to serve her some nice hot home made holliday egg toddy.

Flash Sentry knew that mare. He knew his big, dumb, obsessively compulsive book nerd needed a break from the perfection. A break from responsibility and obligations.

And perhaps even a break from all this Heart’s warming holliday madness.

Hearts warming at the castle would be extravagant, lustrous and galore. It would have holiday classics performed by a live orchestra. Food and drink of the finest quality, by the finest chefs, lined along the long-tables. Glitter and glamour would decorate the halls of canterlot. Not a jingle bell out of place. Every red ball on the tree symmetrical. All the red velvet stripe straight. All the candles identical.

It was someting that everyone involved had put their heart and soul into.

It would be Perfect. – Spotless – Symmetrical – Sterile – Strict.

• Cold.

The little house down the street of canterlot was, as far as anyone knew, just another family house. And they were right. Worn old decorations decked the halls where rampaging kids threw up sticker stars on the walls and competed over what goes where. The tree could likewise best be describes as a chaotic mess with a little bit of everything. The food and the candy was fighting for space on the tables and you could not wak around without stepping in ripped up giftwrapping and strewn about santa hats.

It was a fine holliday mess. – Chaotic – Cramped – Cozy – Comfortable.

• Home.

It was perfect.

It was something that everybody had put their hearts and souls into.

And with the kids sent of to stay with the Parents-in-law. Flash could give his Twilight the best Hearts warming gift he could give. Alone time. Just the two of them. In the light of the fireplace, and some some nice hot home made holliday egg toddy in their muggs.

Note: I thought about making this a new years piece. Or perhaps sprinkle in a mix of Christmas and New year paraphernalia. But given that I had already started with the christmas theme, i decided it was too much work and become too cluttered. So I decided to stick it with the christmas theme.
