Description:
Have to admit, right now I feel like how Big Macintosh looks…this pic took twice as long as anything else I’ve done. I’m happy with it, but I’m afraid I made the ponies too small to really see a lot of the detail that I put in…eh…
See, I was going for a sort of Calvin and Hobbes vibe. Before anyone accuses me of plagiarism, yeah those trees are taken from a C&H book cover that I liked. Bill Watterson used to put his characters very small against a large snowy landscape, and I think it worked better for him than it did for me…at least I got to use his trees, and his comics were a big help in figuring out how to draw snow. So this whole thing is kind of an homage.
Fun fact: Braeburn was originally going to be imitating Hobbes throwing a snowball, but I couldn’t make the pose work for him. Went through three different poses for him before I found one that worked…and now he’s like five pixels tall so you can hardly see it. Eh.
