Personality/Background:

Fire Shield is the oldest child of Starlight Glimmer and Sunburst. He is a rather brash fellow and tends to act first, ask questions later. Fire has always had an affinity for magic since he was a small colt. However, his magic tended to be rather out of control and destructive. He would often cause fires in the house (which Starlight would quickly put out). Over time, Starlight and Sunburst taught Fire Shield how to get a handle on his abilities. He now works as a royal guard for Princess Flurry Heart at the Crystal Empire.

Fire Shield is incredibly ambitious and driven. He wants to become the captain of the guard and lead high level missions. However, Fire struggles to communicate with team members and can be inconsiderate or impatient when dealing with them. Because of this, his current captain is uneasy with idea of Fire Shield becoming a leader of a squadron.

Relationships:

Fire Shield has a fairly decent relationship with both of his parents. He tends to favor his mother, Starlight Glimmer, more though. She is better at magic and helped to train him at a young age. His father, while good at magic, is more book-savvy, so Fire naturally had a harder time relating with him. However, Fire Shield still finds time to visit and chat with his parents on his weekends off of guard duty.

His relationship with his little sister, Lavender, is a different story. Lavender has always felt inferior to Fire Shield as she was born without the ability to use magic. Since Fire is naturally gifted with magic, the two have always been more distant. Lavender wishes that she could be a normal unicorn like her brother and can be rather bitter about it. Fire doesn’t understand why Lavender can’t just be happy the way she is.
