Description:
- As she aged from baby to toddler, Athena’s magic became more sketchy, but stronger each day. One talent she picked up eventually was random teleportation. If there was a day when Auntie Twilight was just too busy to watch her and Dawn, but she reaalllly wanted to play with her best friend, Athena would suddenly find herself in the castle in the dining room (just as lunch is being served! What luck!). Most of the time, Twilight doesn’t mind if she stays for awhile (with a quick note to her parents, of course), but returning the little draconequus is always an adventure in and of itself. The first time Discord did the retrieval himself, however, was a little shocking to Twilight – she wasn’t aware parent draconequus often use their rather-sharp teeth just as dogs or cats do to carry their babies. Its always a learning experience with these two!
2-3. At first, Discord was rather worried on introducing his daughter to the world, and introducing the world back to draconequui again. The painful memories of his childhood seemed fresh now that he had his own little one to care for. He knew from day one there would be challenges she would face in the outside world because of her heritage. However, luckily unlike him, Annie has developed a large friend group, even as a little one. Of course, most of them are the spawn of Fluttershy’s (and yes, okay, his too) friends, but their genuine interest in Annie’s various talents and refusal to shun her for who she is warms his heart, and gives him just a little more hope for both their futures.

“Athena Eris Petunia Shy. You step right back in here this instant.” Discord commanded sharply just as his teenage daughter attempted to fly out the front door. She heaved a defeated sigh, turning away from the bright outside world and grumpily facing her father. The male draconequus studied his daughter with one bushy brow raised. He slowly lowered his reading glasses over the bridge of his long nose.
“When in Celestia’s sparkling behind did you get your ears pierced?” He asked mildly. Athena’s tail twitched, immediately on guard. When her father, the very Master of Chaos, was mild and quiet, it meant that she was really busted. Dipping her long head so that her white hair covered her face, Athena scuffed a claw against the floorboards. “This morning.”
Discord regarded her for another moment before slowly taking off his glasses, neatly slipping his notes in a folder, and snapping his fingers. A glass of water appeared from a flash of white light before Discord daintily took a sip from it. After taking a long drink, he threw his head forward in an overly dramatic spit take.
Already prepared, Annie held up a large shield materialized from a white flash of light identical to her father’s.
“Da!” She rebuked, thankfully keeping herself dry. Snapping away the shield, the young draconequus folded her forearms in indignation. “I just finished putting my hair together. And I got my ears done for Mel’s party at the lake today!”
Discord scowled at the mention of his nephew, Mellow Vibes, who was never fazed by his uncle’s trickery, no matter how much the frustrated creature tried. “And when are you going to be back? Who all is going to be there?”
“Later! And its just a few friends. Dawn, Juniper, Chryssi, Jet, the twins, they’re gonna be there. Its just hanging out, karaoke, stuff like that. C’mon, Da. Auntie Pinkie let CC and Connie get their ears done last week!” Athena implored. Discord stood, rolling his ruby eyes.
“Your Aunt Pinkamena makes quite a few decisions I don’t agree with as far as those two. But Annie, you’re only thirteen.”
“And you’re being overprotective, as usual, Da.” Athena countered, puffing up and scrunching her muzzle in defiance. She wasn’t one to really get into tiffs with the father she loved so, but he was being infuriating. Discord sighed, pinching the bridge of his nose.
“Does your mother know of this party?” He asked wearily, now grasping at straws. If any one could calm down his rambunctious daughter, it was her beloved mother.
“Actually, I do. I’m glad I caught you before I left, honey.” The butter-yellow pegasus’s soft voice entered the living room. Fluttershy walked in, approaching the squabbling creatures. Completely ignoring her husband, Fluttershy sat before her daughter, lovingly smoothing her ruff. “You look beautiful, sweetheart. Now, go have fun, be safe, and tell your cousin Auntie Shy says hullo.”
“You’re the best, Mum.” Athena beamed, her turquoise eyes glittering in excitement. She pecked her mother on the cheek as Discord gaped behind them.
“Fluttershy, dearest, butter slice, love of my life – could we at least look into a chaperone -?” Discord feebly attempted to appeal to his wife, but the pink-haired pony shot him a stern look.
“Discord, come on now. Annie has more than once proven herself trustworthy. You know as well as I she’s not some crazy party draconequus. Don’t be a big fuddy-duddy and let our girl have some fun.” The royal adviser heaved a long sigh before giving a shrug and small smile.
“You’re the greatest Master of Chaos that ever lived.” Athena quipped in delight, hugging her parents tightly before tearing through the front door and disappearing in a flash of familiar white light. The two parents looked after her with fondness and adoration.
“Dizzy,” Fluttershy began gently. “Athena isn’t a chick anymore. She’s growing up, and we need to give her room to do so, help her build the confidence she needs if she wants to be Dawn’s adviser one day.”
Discord sighed and nodded before his brows furrowed. “Annie said Dawn was going to be at the lake too. There’s going to be about five or six royal guards at this thing, isn’t there?”
Fluttershy gave a crafty smile up towards the draconequus, lifting a brow. Discord chuckled in earnest, sharing a hoof bump with his wife.
“Well played, my dear. Well played.”
(holy style difference, batman. this was actually the very very very first doodle I did of Athena in her final design, and I couldn’t just trash it because I loved the story so much. I think hope I’ve improved since!)
- A friendly, casual, father-daughter chaos duel. Dad can’t go all-out yet, but one day she will manage to best him!
