He is an Earth pony that had nearly froze to death, but was rescued and healed by a wise zebra. The potions used to bring the stallion back to life was unstable and conjured from dark magic. The healing process was unpredictable and replaced his scarred wounds with strange markings linking him to an unknown darkness.
Now, he has the ability to see and talk to the dead. he now uses his gift/curse to solve crimes that have gone cold and help spirits rest in peace.
