The movie had ended hours ago and all that was left was the white flickering of the still rotating film. Not that Cheese minded. In fact, he could care less whether or not Daring Do the Explorer was over. He was too busy relishing in the sight of all four kiddos asleep around him.

Originally, he had put the movie on to quiet down four-month-old Twinkle Star, but before it was even to the theme song, Taffy decided to come in and join them. Not long after, Carmel Bell sat down indifferently by her father, claiming she was bored ( but only as a cover-up for watching the kiddish cartoon). Even little Rocky couldn’t resist peaking his head in the room before slipping quietly behind his dad’s tail- just ‘for the funny part’.

One by one, Cheese had watched each kid nod, strech, and yawn, until their eyelids became to heavy for them. He gazed at each of them, from Taffy drooling on his back to Twinkle softly snoring in his hooves, with a look of that sweet, sweet paternal pride. It didn’t matter if his legs were cramping from staying stone-still for so long, he couldn’t let this moment end. If only his children would always stay this small and snuggly. The thought of this precious scene being so fleeting, so temporal, made it bittersweet for Cheese. Like a lemon chocolate fudge cupcake.

Still, he was willing to see the bright side, being an optimist by nature. His kids would grow up as kids always do, but Cheese would be there to see it all. He’d give each one of them more love than could be baked into a pie, and show it by coming to all of their dance recitals or hoofball games or whatever it is that they loved to do. Never would he ever let them down, but  instead, he’d do his best to cheer them on with affection and animal balloons when times got tough. And Cheese would do all that he could to be the greatest dad for his kids, from cringy dad jokes to ultimate and unconditional support.

Cause that’s the kinda Dad his kids deserved, and that’s the kinda Dad he was going to be. Pinkie Promise.

Cheese Sandwhich is best Dad.

I know I’m jumping the gun here, showing Cheese with his four kids before you actually know who the kids are, but since I am posting Cheesepie this week I figured you’d find out soon enough. Not to mention the idea for this picture just wouldn’t leave me a l o n e.

There’s also another, more personal reason I wanted to post Cheese here with his kiddos. I actually grew up in a family of four sisters ( of which I’m the oldest, but it’s not like anyone can’t tell since everyone says my sister a year younger than me looks older  ̶t̶r̶i̶g̶g̶e̶r̶e̶d̶ ), so I can relate in so many ways to this family dynamic. And when it comes to my Dad, he reminds me of cheese in a lot of ways. For one, my Dad is goofy, easygoing,  ̶t̶e̶l̶l̶s̶ ̶b̶a̶d̶ ̶d̶a̶d̶ ̶j̶o̶k̶e̶s̶, and is very sentimental, while also being the strong role model I need in my life. And I know this is going to sound cheesy  ̶p̶l̶e̶a̶s̶e̶ ̶d̶o̶n̶’̶t̶ ̶k̶i̶l̶l̶ ̶m̶e̶, but I really wouldn’t be the person I am today if it weren’t for all the love and devotion of my amazing Dad. 

And to all the great, goofy dads out there, although I highly doubt you’ll see this, you guys are awesome and encouraging and deserve to have a special day commemorated to you.
