ive been working on and off of a next gen universe for ~2 years? now. this is no where near all of the designs/lore/etc. i have for the au (its also a little outdated) but i really wanted to finally post something.

i haven’t named all of the children, hopefully i’ll update with names soon.

Princess Twilight Sparkle & Prince Blueblood (Political Marriage**)

- Rosarium was born shortly before Twilight and Blueblood were engaged, adopted by Twilight

The Crystal Empire used to be much larger, with some of the towns of Equestria once being part of it. Only the capital was banished, and afterwards, the towns joined other countries for protection and trade.

King Sombra used to be the benevolent ruler of the Crystal Empire and was married to Chrysalis. But after an accident Chrysalis realized that Changelings could continuously feed off of love, making them much stronger than what her race was doing now. In her desire for power she took over the Crystal Empire and imprisoned King Sombra. Without any other option, he used dark magic to free himself and banish Chrysalis, corrupting himself. As long as he was around the Crystal Heart, though, he was able to perform a spell that would temporarily keep away the dark magic’s corruption. This is when he met the two Equestrian princesses, and fell in love with Luna. He was visiting Equestria when Discord took over, and was separated from the Crystal Heart for much longer than planned because of this. By the time he got back, the corruption in him had spread too far and the Crystal Heart would harm him any time he or his subjects tried to use it, so he locked it away in the highest tower, and slowly lost his mind to dark magic and his desire for more power.

• Daydream (Celestia & ???), Nocturne & Abyss (Sombra & Luna), and Dusk (Sombra & Chrysalis)
  
  They were all born 1000 years ago. Sombra’s children were all in the Crystal Empire when it was banished, and they were frozen in time with the rest of the empire. Soon after, Celestia banished Luna, and encased her own child in stone because she was afraid of how her citizens would react if she knew who the child’s other parent was. The four didn’t age due to their bodies being frozen, and were released when Luna and Sombra came back. Biologically, they are only a few years older than most of the other foals.

• Twilight Sparkle and Blueblood formed a political alliance because the royal unicorn family was becoming unhappy with Celestia and threatened to split the province they oversaw into a separate country. Twilight Sparkle agreed to marry Blueblood in order to calm the situation down. (Blueblood is actually decent, he just treated Rarity badly because he thought she just wanted his money/status. Which was kind of true.)
