Ironically, Sunset went into labor on Labor Day. She, Flash and Twilight were discussing how to handle the birth and custody of the baby, since Flash is the biological father, when Sunset’s water broke (which isn’t shown to keep my art appropriate as possible) and they had to rush her to Sweet Apple Acres. 

I headcanon that all ponies in or close to the Apple Family give birth at Sweet Apple Acres. Thus, every baby in the Mane 8 and CMC is born at Sweet Apple Acres. 

I also headcanon that mares close to their due dates wrap the docks of their tails to both alert ponies that going into labor is a possibility, and to prevent difficulty with the tail when the baby’s born. This is common in real life horses.
