This is the first pair of twins Applejack and Rainbow Dash produce (while not having a twin herself, Rainbow Dash is very susceptible to having fraternal twins) and the second oldest of the Mane 6 kids. The mare is Winter Gale and her brother is Autumn Breeze, two peas in a pod. They’re the best of friends and while they might not be as close as their younger twin siblings (who almost refuse to do anything without the other), these two are often seen together. They’re both excellent fliers with Winter being the pro at speed and Autumn being the expert at agility and endurance; both will have a lasting career in racing, however they will be more into tag-team racing than solo.

Winter Gale is probably the perfect mix between Rainbow’s brashness and AJ’s calm patience. Given the depth of her voice, she often chooses not to raise her voice and instead prefers to talk quietly, but with a firmness in her voice that’s hard to ignore. She has a deep country drawl and likes to call everyone “sugar” or “apple bite”, even when she doesn’t mean it, and she’s quite the sarcastic smart-mouth when she wants to be. She’s the type to casually use curse words regardless of who she’s with or where she is (even around children though she tones it down), and she always seems like the laziest of the AppleDash bunch. For all of her disposition, though, Winter Gale is no slouch; when she puts her mind to something, she can gain a hyper-focus on the goal and push herself hard until she achieves the goal (sometimes to the point of it being unhealthy). This has shown especially after she lost a wing and got a prosthetic for it; under her outer air of acceptance is the fear of being seen as someone who is helpless and can’t do anything for herself anymore, so she works twice as hard as she used to. She refuses help for some of the most mundane of activities, and if the offer persists you’ll get a taste of the nasty temper she rarely displays.

Winter Gale, in short, is the laid back “cool big sister” that sometimes allows her mouth to run before her brain analyses the impact her words might have on someone. She’s more stubborn than both her parents, which has brought things good and bad for her, her insecurities can rear its head as a rather vicious temper, and when she focuses on a task she might put too much focus on it and not so much focus on taking care of herself. That said, she’s reliable, she’s hard working, she’s protective, and when you find a friend in her it’s a friend for life.

Autumn Breeze is younger than his sister by only a couple of minutes. Like his sister, he more or less has a good mix of his mothers’ personalities: he has the confidence and ambition of Rainbow Dash and the calm, level-headed disposition of Applejack. Despite it he is a little easier to rile up in comparison to his sister, who has certain ticks that’ll get her temper flying, but he’s also quicker to take a breath and think about the situation before opening his mouth. Autumn’s a hard worker in anything and everything he does (example: Winter’s content with getting Bs whereas Autumn wants straight As, though Bs don’t bother him much), and he’s the “stern big brother” to Winter’s “cool big sister”, though he can quite easily match his sister both in foul-mouthing, biting sarcasm, and overall laidbackness (though he can’t keep it up for too long). He’s not as socially inclined as his sister is, but that’s okay; the friends he does have are great, and they understand that sometimes he just needs to be alone for a while. The only pony Autumn never minds the company of, even when in one of his “alone time” moods, is his Ma (AJ. Rainbow is referred to as Momma), and despite being a career flyer he uses most of his free time to help harvest on the farm.

In short, Autumn Breeze might outwardly seem to be more outgoing than his sister, but in fact its a bit of the opposite. He’s hardworking and determined to do what he’s set out to do, but unlike Winter he has a better idea of when it’s good to take a break, breathe, and look at what’s been accomplished thus far. He’s quicker to react to something but also quicker to take a minute and think about the situation at hand before speaking or acting, although sometimes he can let his pride blind him. Very trustworthy, friendly, and the voice of advice when you least expect it.

Fun Facts:

-Autumn Breeze looks and acts a lot like Hard Cider, Applejack’s long-deceased father (and his grandfather of course). Applejack, Big Mac, and especially Granny Smith sometimes gets a startle when they look at him because the similarities are sometimes uncanny.

-Winter Gale isn’t the type to coddle, but when she’s around children it’s a little harder not to spoil them rotten. She tends to call kids of any breed/species “pup”.

-Winter Gale has an amazing singing voice. She doesn’t think it’s good because of how raspy her voice is, but she could easily get a career as a rockstar is she put her mind to it.

-In the same breath, Autumn can’t sing, but he can play a mean banjo. He and Winter used to pull spontaneous duets with him on the banjo and her singing.

-Winter often goes by just “Gale” or “Winter”, Whereas Autumn Breeze goes by “Autumn” or “Sandypants” Why Winter calls him that no one fully knows, but he responds to it nonetheless.

-Winter and Autumn are close to both of their mothers, but she’s closer to Rainbow Dash whereas Autumn’s closer to Applejack. When in need of advice, these two are the ones they go to respectively for the most part.
