On one of Rarity’s many trips to Canterlot, she happened to bump into Fancy Pants again. The two had the chance to catch up and spend some one on one time together between Rarity’s fashion shows and found that they got along rather well. The two made efforts to stay in touch after that and made trips to see one another more often. Fancy Pants even came to Ponyville a few times when Rarity couldn’t escape work or when he wanted to surprise her. Needless to say, they were smitten with one another. But between Rarity’s nerves and Fancy’s apprehension in regards to romantic relationships, accepting and admitting their feelings for one another was a long process. Eventually they began to officially start dating and, only a few short months afterwords, Fancy Pants proposed. At first Rarity denied him, thinking that they were moving too fast, but a few months later he proposed again and she accepted. Their wedding was certainly the most grand affair Ponyville had ever seen.

The couple spent quite a while enjoying their marriage and furthering their careers. While neither could leave their home towns for long, due to their jobs and families, they remained close to one another. Fancy would stay in Ponyville for a few weeks with Rarity, then Rarity would go back to Canterlot with him for a few weeks. After all home is where the heart is, not the house you live in, as Rarity would say when someone mentioned the odd arrangement. She wasn’t bothered. She’d have to travel just as much with her growing business even without her husband by her side. Having him there along with her was icing on the cake. The same went for Fancy, who took great pleasure in his wife’s company and great pride in all that she had accomplished in their time together. However, their charming, routine lives came to a screeching halt when Rarity found out that she was pregnant. Though it came as quite a shock to the couple, they weren’t really against the idea of raising a child. It took some getting used to, but within the first few weeks they were eagerly preparing for the arrival of a new baby. 9 months later, little Rosalie was born. Fancy Pants took an entire year off work in order to be with his wife and daughter, not wanting to miss a moment with his little Rosie. He doted on her like only the wealthy could, but more than any toy or treat, Rosie craved time with her papa. Fancy was more than happy to oblige. As for Rarity, she loved her daughter more than she ever thought she could love another pony. She took charge of all the practical care that went into raising a foal, though Rosie was a very well behaved and easy to care for baby. But for the longest time, she couldn’t connect with little Rosie like Fancy could. However, as she got older Rosie showed interest in Fashion and Rariy was able to really bond with her daughter. Once Rosie was old enough to go to school, she and Rarity stayed in Ponyville so that the filly wouldn’t have to move from school to school. Rarity had tried to move them to Canterlot and enroll Rosie in a much nicer school, but Fancy wouldn’t hear of it. He’d seen the kind of cruelty the wealthier children inflicted on one another and refused to let that cruelty be inflicted on his daughter. He wanted Rosie to be able to learn and grow in an environment where she was well known and surrounded by friends and family. And with the Princess of Friendship, The Elemental Barers, and their families all around in Ponyville, both he and Rarity agreed that Rosie would be better off in the quaint little town.
