Description:
Make-up for day 15 of Equestria Daily’s Artist Training Grounds. The prompt was: “Draw a ponyfied version of your favorite book, game, etc.”
This is a ponified Prompto from Final Fantasy XV! If the Chocobros were ponies, I feel like Prompto would be a pegasus, Iggy would be a unicorn, and Gladdy would be an earth pony. And Noctis would be an alicorn, of course! Only had time to draw one for this entry though, so I picked my favourite character.
Caution: major fangirling below.
I actually have a really hard time deciding what my top favourite game is because I usually pick favourites per genre rather than an overall favourites, but FFXV is absolutely in my top 5 of all time. The story is actually great once you understand it, although I fully admit they do a crappy job telling it – shouldn’t need to watch a movie, an anime, read the loading screens, and listen to random skippable in-game radio broadcasts to fully understand the plot. But ignoring that, what really sells me on this game is the inter-character dialogue. I’ve never played a game where the interaction between the 4 main characters just felt so real. Like the best part of this game wasn’t the main storyline, it was running around with my bros, screwing around and doing random sidequests. I love exploring so I adored the massive open world as well.
All of the Chocobros are dear to me in their own way, but Prompto is my favourite and I absolutely adore him. I’m a huge sucker for character depth, and I definitely felt like he had the most character development in the game. (Minor spoilers ahead.) On the surface he acts like a funny, comedic relief sort of character. And he’s good at it, he’s hilarious and absolute sunshine. Such a sweet cinnamon roll. But as you get to know him a bit better, you realize he’s actually really insecure and feels like he doesn’t deserve to hang out with Noctis and the rest. He’s trying to be extra friendly and fun to be around to “earn” his place in the group; so that his friends will stay with him. And uuuuuuuugh, my heart. He’s such a good kid, he deserves all the best.
