Just a little diddy staring AdvancedDefense’s Werelight.

On New Year’s Eve night, Werelight was enjoying observing a rare meteor shower from the balcony of her library. She was absolutely giddy with excitement because this particular shower had been predicted over 100 years ago. It was so exciting for her to be seeing something that was accurately predicted so long ago; it reinforced her belief in logic and science.

After a little while, she noticed a really big one blazing more brightly and beautifully than any of the others. After a few minutes of observing it, something began to nag her. Something was off. After a few more minutes of observing, she realized it appeared to be getting bigger and brighter. “But that’s only possible if it’s… coming… right AT us!” she gasped and jumped up in surprise. “At that rate of speed it’ll hit in less than an hour!!! What do I do, what do I do?!” Werelight frantically searches the library and finds nothing in her books. “And like this, even my Alicorn magic won’t be strong enough! Wait… strong enough?” she looked down at herself. In this form her body was bulging and rippling with muscle. No matter how much she’d tried to figure out exactly how strong she was, she could never seem to find her limits. She’d lifted boulders the size of fully grown dragons effortlessly with one hand. She’d knocked all the apples out of the trees on the farm one night with a single stomp, much to the confusion of Applejack the next morning. As near as she could tell, Werelight didn’t have a limit on her strength that she could accurately measure. “If I can use magic to protect myself from the heat, then maybe I can push the meteor back into space!” So she located an ice spell to shield her from heat and store air. It allowed her to cast an aura of frigid cold, icy air around her and a layer of ice on her skin that would protect her from the heat. She cast it on herself and flew up high right at the meteor. She marveled for a moment at how gorgeous the stars were this high above the clouds and then gasped when she saw it coming. The meteor was many times bigger than any boulder she’d ever lifted. So big in fact that she lost heart for a moment. “Even Celestia couldn’t turn this away with her magic…” If it hit, Ponyville would be obliterated and all of Equestria would be wiped out, and probably more beyond that. “No! I can do this! I HAVE to do this!” She flapped her wings and flew up to meet it. She could tell it was hotter than anything she’d even felt, but the ice aura magic held. She placed her hands upon the superheated irregular surface and pushed, flapping her wings as hard as she could. “Come on wings! If you’re as strong as the rest of me…” she put all her effort into it but to no avail. She tumbled away from the space rock. “It’s too big and moving too fast…” she panted, “I can’t push it back into space. But I have to do something…” she clenched her fist in frustration and felt the strength in her arm. She looked down at it. “It’s a crazy idea. Crazier than the last one. Maybe I can freeze it to the core and break it up. If I can shatter it into small enough pieces, maybe it would work. I have to use my strength and ice magic together for it to work.”

It was risky. She’d have to use less magic on the ice shield, but it was her only option. “Okay, you stupid space rock, here comes Werelight!!!” she grinned. She drove straight at the meteor again. With less magic in the shield, she felt the heat this time. Even though it didn’t burn, she felt the immense heat as she planted her left hand on the surface and drew back her right. She clenched her fist for the punch, causing the muscles of her arm to bulge stupendously. She gathered raw ice magic power into her fist and punched. Her fist met the rock with a thunder-crack. The sudden extreme cold being forced into the burning rock caused the surface to fracture all over, but it wasn’t enough. The power hadn’t been forced deep enough. “Grrr, one more time!” Werelight growled. She drew back for another punch and felt even more power build up. “RRRAAAAAAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRRRRRGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!” she screamed as she drove her fist into and through the surface of the rock. This time it worked. She drove the freezing magic spell deep into the core of the space rock with brute strength. The core froze instantly and the sudden difference in temperature within the rock caused a violent reaction. With a cracking explosion loud enough to be heard all over Equestria, the rock burst into tiny fragments that would burn up. Ponies looking up would have simply seen a magnificent burst of light and sonic-boom.

Exhausted and pleased she’d succeeded, Werelight let herself plummet onto the mountain the dragon had once occupied. She broke a few boulders on the way down and left a sizable impact crater where she landed. She herself wasn’t hurt; she was too tough for that. She lay in the crater looking up at the result of her crazy plan and rest of the meteor shower. The explosion looked like a giant firework had gone off in the sky and lingered among the rest of the falling rocks. She interlocked her hands under her head, laid back and snickered, she’d saved Equestria with magic, strength, AND science. She grinned, “That was FREAKING AWESOME.”
