Sugar Lily is a 56 year old earth pony mare who originally hails from Canterlot, but now lives comfortably in the up and coming boom-town of Sire’s Hollow. She was a favoured, senior maid of Princess Celestia for much of her working life, and a close friendship had grown between the two.

Physically, Sugar Lily is smaller than usual for an adult earth pony, and has always been visibly overweight. However, she embraces her curves, and has never cared about other pony’s opinions on how she looks. Additionally, Sugar has no long term ailments, not even arthritis or diabetes, yet has never been able to conceive children of her own.

She is a lot stronger than she looks, and is every bit a typical earth pony matriarch in her attitude, and in her inherent magical connection to the land. As a result of this, she has a large and beautifully landscaped garden that she has built and maintained since she retired to Sire’s Hollow.

As mentioned above, Sugar Lily is the adoptive mother of Malachite, the local dragoness who lives and works in Sire’s Hollow. This came to pass through Princess Celestia gifting a dragon egg to Sugar, almost as an apology for the fertility treatments that the Princess had arranged never working.

For her part, Malachite loves Sugar Lily as her true mother, and frankly couldn’t care less about her actual origins. A strong, mutual sense of care and utter respect flows through their interactions, and Princess Celestia still keeps tabs on them, writing to them often.

Sugar Lily has a jolly and optimistic outlook on life, and does indeed like to spend as much time with her daughter and large circle of friends as possible. As a hobby, she likes to knit woollen shawls, and occasionally makes a batch to sell. She rarely wears them herself, but Malachite is rarely seen without one of the delicate and beautiful garments.

Sugar has quite the sense of humour, and is not afraid to swear in the presence of anypony- including Royalty, something that Princess Celestia appreciated in particular. However, she does make an effort to remain “family friendly“ for the most part. Her unusual voice would be best described as a cross between those of Mrs Cake, and Rarity.

When it comes to more personal matters, Sugar Lily is actively heterosexual, and frankly unbothered by the species of a prospective suitor- and she likes partners to be younger than her, within reason and legality. Currently involved in a speed-dating group as a personal experiment, Sugar is just seeing where life leads her at present.

She is known to be very “vanilla” in her bedroom tastes, but is willing to try new things for the right guy. It should be noted here that Sugar Lily loves close physical contact, and enjoys physical affection like stroking, ear scritching and massage, not to mention copious cuddles and snuggles.
