Note. To the best of my knowledge this is not based on any existing Fallout Equestria storyline, nor does it follow any particular plot in the Fallout universe. This is just the narrative that popped into my head as I worked on this piece.
Amber fiddled with his tie for what seemed like the thousandth time as he looked at himself in the full length mirror. With that meaningless task completed the pony hybrid took another look at what he saw.
The light nutmeg brown wool jacket and pants flattered his orange-brown coat and straw yellow mane. Rounding out his wardrobe for tonight was a vest of walnut brown silk, a long sleeve of white cotton, and a burnt umber tie of Damask silk. Leather Oxford shoes of walnut brown sheathed his hooves.
Amber had never worn a suit. In fact he'd never worn any newly made clothes, and he'd definitely had never worn anything that had been tailored specifically for him. Even his vault suits had once belong to another pony before him. However now he was experiencing both.
He slowly ran his right hand down the left sleeve of his jacket. So this was what it was like before the war. This is what one could've done every day back then. He thought.
For just a moment there was a tinge of sadness in Amber's mind as he realized just how much the war had deprived the generations that came afterwards. He shook his head and banished those unwanted thoughts. Tonight was suppose to be an evening of celebration, not reflecting on what had been lost.
He decided to go check and see if Sweetie Belle was ready to go. Recently the Stablemare and the Stable Senior Staff had decided to promote Sweetie to the position of Chief Outreach Communication Pony. The mare would now oversee communications and cultural exchanges with the other communities outside of Stable 69. Either other stables or the communities of the Wasteland.
For this reason a very special dinner was being prepared tonight for Amber and Sweetie in the Stable 69 cantina/club. Special reserved food stocks had been authorized for tonight's dinner. Also they'd be eating the section normally only reserved for the Senior Stable Officers.
Sweetie Belle finished brushing her mane and then smiled at herself in the mirror. Somehow her sister and secured some bolts of flawless Pre-war fabric to not only make her outfit for tonight but also Amber's suit. For this evening she was wearing scrumptious little cocktail dress of eggplant purple satin. As she was setting her brush down on her vanity she saw Amber's reflection in the mirror. He standing across the room admiring her. She looked over her shoulder and grinned.
"Like what you see?" She asked.
The stallion nodded his head. "I always do when it comes to you." He slowly stepped toward her. "Ready to go? We have reservations for 9pm."
Sweetie levitated over a pair of gold and jet bracelets. Quickly she slipped them on. She started to reach out with her levitation for the coat of heavy black velour she'd be wearing only to find that Amber was already holding it for her. Smiling she stood up and let the stallion put it on her.
"Lets go." She said.
This is a Patreon reward for Skyline-Twlight. Because the Fallout universe has a very 1950s vibe to it I decided I wanted Amber and Sweetie to have that Mad Men vibe to their outfits.
