The final step before ascending the Throne of Tides, the Empress' Dance would either confirm Twilight's right to succeed her mother or tear her apart.

Twilight really hoped it wouldn't be the latter. She liked being in one piece, thank you very much.

The Dance would also call out to Twilight's soulmate wherever she might be and unite the two of them for all time. While Twilight's mother and grandmother had ruled with only one consort each, there came a surprise.

Not one, but two, answered her call. A call only they could hear, and as her fellow mermaids joined in her dance, their movements complementing while enhancing her own, Twilight could only smile.
