Elegant. Charming. Graceful. Feminine. These are few among the many words which could be used to describe a siren.

Aria Fantasia Blaze, the oldest sister of the Dazzlings second only to Adagio Dazzle, for most intents and purposes, is none of these. Blunt, crude, and aggressive, if Adagio is the brains of the siren sisters' operation, Aria is very much the brawn (it's still debatable what Sonata's is, other than a lure or distraction). While by absolutely no means unintelligent, and quite the thinker on her feet as well as an excellent leader (at least when Adagio isn't around), through extreme measures and heavy maintenance of her physical form, she's sculpted herself to be the unquestionable muscle of their entourage. If knees need capping, teeth broken, or skulls cracked, Aria is the woman for the job. Going hand in hand with her rather brutish role in her sisterhood, she's not particularly one for girlish activities or even table manners. More often than not, you'll find her chugging a can of cheap beer before burping and crushing it against her rock-hard abs, tossing it in the the direction of the nearby trash can (whether it lands inside or not isn't her problem) rather than daintily sipping from a glass of wine as Adagio might or cheerfully slurping from a sugary smoothie as Sonata would.

All this said, Aria is nonetheless a siren, and as any siren should be, she is as much a creature of song, seduction, and manipulation as any other. In spite of her muscular features, she's still plenty endowed with softness and feminine curves to make up for the other hard and angular features of her body which she'd crafted and maintained over the many centuries she's been alive. Just as much so, while her voice might be tilted towards that of the gruff and scratchy, and while her tone and general attitude can only be described as 'bitchy' if put kindly, the concept of seducing a partner through means and for intents sexual or romantic are not lost on her. And, of course, being a siren, her voice is used for more than berating her younger sister for doing something stupid, butting heads with her older sister for leadership, or for bullying random strangers who happen to piss her off for one reason or another: it is, after all, how sirens such as them get others to do what they want. One might also find it rather amusing to discover that of the three siblings, Aria's singing voice is in fact the highest pitch.

Lastly there comes the matter of her relationship with her sisters. While often adversarial, the rivalries between the three of them are only built with the same dynamics as any siblings' would be. While Sonata often finds any immeasurable number of ways to get under Aria's skin, often leading to antagonism from the older siren which ultimately escalates into mutual back-and-forth trades of bickering, the two of them always mediate things in the end (or by Adagio's hand if the situation calls), and so carries onward Aria's begrudging love for the third-born of the Dazzlings.

Aria's relationship with Adagio is very much in a similar vain as well, though concerning an entirely different matter. It's rather often the two of them find themselves at loggerheads regarding questions of planning, leadership, and Adagio's authority, and although Aria sometimes resents the role the eldest siren sister has taken, she takes a degree of pride in the knowledge that her presence and the tension she provides can often serve as a means of pulling Adagio's reins in if her ambitions and powerlust ever get too out of bonds.

Further History

Millennia ago, deep in the oceans bordering the coasts of Equestria, dwell an isolated, reclusive, and secretive race known as the sirens. For centuries, little to nothing was known about them, to such an extent that often ponies thought them to be a myth all together, a legend told to strike fear and instill caution in those foolhardy sailors who sought to dominate the waves for themselves. This, however, was not the case. Those tales of beautiful, ethereally perfect song drifting even above the roar of the most raging storm were true, as were the results: sailors losing themselves in a trance and crashing upon the rocks, or losing focus long enough for the sea to swallow them whole. It was never intentional, of course, or at least for the vast majority of the siren population such consequences were not desire, but their lack of knowledge as to the effects of their singing upon the minds of others did not matter to those who witnessed or survived it, and so it was the sirens, when spotted, would be either hunted down or driven back beneath the ocean's surface.

Over time, being so reviled by the ponies of Equestria could only foster in the slowly dwindling, and increasingly insular siren population: resentment. For most it was a passive hatred, anger at the fact they had been driven under the waves and trapped there, only allowed to surface if the seas were clear of any boats. For others, however, they made it their duty to wreak revenge on people who had attacked them, and upon discovering the reasons for why, the years of building tensions and growing fury saw to the demise of peace and explanation. Rather than attempt to explain the inadvertent deaths that had caused to countless seafarers over the years, they met spears with hypnotic song now actively weaponized for the purpose of sinking ships and drawing vessels' crew to their watery graves. To them, there was little point in making themselves understood - what would be even the purpose of doing so if all that would meet them upon breaching to the surface were angry shouts and harpoons?

And so for decades it went. Eventually, the sirens had managed to create a boundary within the southern sea of Equestria in which mariners simply did not sail, and for a time, there was finally peace within the colony, but it was not a peace that would last with the arrival of a stallion by the name of Star Swirl.

When the blue siren known as Sonata Fantasia Dusk was hatched at moonlight a week after her sisters, Adagio Dazzle and Aria Blaze, they could never have known they would likely become the last of their species. Born at a time where after years of quiet and stability within the sirens' region of control was abruptly ended by the establishment of new coastal communities in place of the old, who failed to heed or outright disregarded the warnings of the forebears, the sisters grew up in a climate of old hatreds surging to the forefront with renewed vigor. It was their duty to defend their homeland like any other siren when they came of age, and for centuries they terrorized the coasts of Equestria, desiring to push them back further inland to make certain they would never approach their territories again.

Rather than achieving such goals, however, it only attracted more unwanted attention, and by the time Star Swirl came around to the ponies' aid, the species' fate, as well as that of the Dazzling sisters, was sealed. After the magician had banished all three siblings to the human realm, he embarked upon a crusade to put an end to the threat the sirens posed once and for all. Little still is known about siren history, society, and hierarchy, and it will likely remain as such as, to the knowledge of most, the siren colony within the southern sea of Equestria was scoured clean and brought to ruin. Whether or not any escaped and fled for safer, more secluded waters is unknown. And so, Sonata, Aria, and Adagio remain the only known sirens to Equestria. And now, with their gems shattered, their forms are rendered not as the ones they were born to, but instead of unicorns, making the knowledge they could potentially impart about sirens an even more challenging puzzle to piece together.
