Back then things were simpler for Little Twilight. Her world was nothing more but books, school and tales from the princess. Her responsibilities were a lot less then what it is today. Oh, how fleeting time can be.

Young Twilight always had big dreams, as little ones often do. She dreamt of being a pony that her teacher could be proud of.

"I'm already so proud of what you've accomplish my dear," the alicorn spoke with softness in her voice, warm and caring, as she's always been.

"But I want to make you prouder!!! I want to grow up quickly and become an amazing unicorn that can do good!" the filly exclaimed joyously.

The Princess smiled at her pupil's remark.

"Maybe I can even be a princess like you," she whispered shyly, her small face turning pink ever so slightly. Celestia paused at this, a twinge of melancholy stung her heart.

"Would you... want to be a princess my dear?" the sun alicorn questioned, there was a sadness in her eyes, a sadness that Twilight didn't notice.

"Can I?" she replied, gazing into the princesses eyes with wonder, Celestia gently chuckled at this.

"Yes... you'll make a amazing princess," at this the young filly beamed as bright as the Princess's sun.

Twilight let out a long yawn, stretched her limbs that had grown weary from the day's events. Celestia covered the foal with her wing, making sure that her pupil was comfortable. That day had been a long one, and it seemed like Twilight had missed her afternoon nap from all of her enthusiasm.

"I want to.... grow up... as soon as possible.... so I can become... a... Princess..." mumbled Twilight as slumber began to tug on her eyes. Celestia watched as she slowly went to sleep, the alicorn then bent down and nuzzled her horn gently against hers. Wishing that the filly had nothing but pleasant dreams.

Celestia wanted to cherish these moments with young Twilight as much as possible. Living for so long, she knew all too well how short-lived treasures like these can be. She let out a metaphorical sigh, wishing that children didn't have to grow up so fast. Wishing that the world was kinder to them, hoping that time lasts longer.

She saw much greatness ahead for Twilight, and prayed that that did not blind her student from enjoying the current moment. Oh my, why do children want to grow up so quickly. Please stay like this a little longer my love. There will be a time where things won't be as simple, where the world would be cruel to you, and where you'd face many hardships to come. Where joys like these will be hard to come by, and when your world becomes bigger you will also yearn for these plain moments.
