it had been seven years since Rainbow’s break up with her ex, Zephyr Breeze. She and Soarin’ ended up married, and he adopted little Cloud Spirit. Rainbow wasn’t planning on telling Cloud Spirit about Zephyr. Not until she was older and could understand. Besides, she was too busy training her daughter follow her hood steps and become a Wonderbolt just like her! Today, she was taking her to see the Wonderbolts Airshow. Rainbow Dash was very excited to show her daughter the awesomeness of the Wonderbolts.
The blue pegasus’s eyes widened as the winged ponies soared through the air, doing (almost the most amazing) stunts she’d ever seen. “Did you see that, Cloudy? Wasn’t that amazing?” Dash asked her child, who seemed to be reading a book beside her. “The smallest animal in the world is a paedophryne amauensis. That’s a very small amphibian; smaller than one bit!” Cloud Spirit said, pointing to the picture in her book. Rainbow Dash frowned. “I told you not to bring that, Cloud. It’s too distracting.” She told her.
“No it’s not,” she protested, turning the page. Rainbow put her arm around Cloud Spirit, tilting her head up to the show. “See? There are amazing, awesome, cool dare-devils up there! Isn’t that awesome?” She asked. “You said that like sixty times already.” Cloud replied, looking back at her book. Rainbow Dash sighed. I have to show her how great her future is going to be.
Rainbow Dash quickly snatched the book from her daughter. “Hey! Give that back!” Cloudy told her. “Cloud Spirit, we came here to watch a show, and that’s what you’re going to do.” The little blue filly scowled at her.
“I don’t want to watch! Why did you even bring me here?!” She yelled.
She doesn’t mean that... all little Pegasi love the Wonderbolts. She just needs a change of scenery.
Cloud Spirit didn’t talk the rest of the day, and when they got home, she grabbed her book back, and ran to her room. Soarin’ looked at Rainbow Dash. “What happened?” He asked. “She doesn’t understand how cool the Wonderbolts are. How cool her future could be. All she wants to do is read.” Rainbow explained. “Is that a bad thing? Kids her age love to read!” Soarin’ said. “Yeah, but not fat textbooks.” Rainbow protested.
she sighed. “I want the best for her,” Rainbow told him. “Are you sure the best for her is becoming a wonderbolt?” Soarin’ asked her. Rainbow thought. It is... isn’t it?
“It is! I’m sure of it. I just need to keep trying. I’m sure she’ll fall in love with flying soon.” Rainbow said, looking out the window at the pastel evening sky.
“She’ll have to,”
