Description:
Dear Celestia,
It‘s been so long since I’ve written to you like this. I used to send you letters every week sharing what I’ve learned about friendship and seeking out advice from the best teacher I know. But I guess that’s died down since I became a princess. I may not be your student anymore but I really do miss writing to you, Celestia. To tell the truth, I’m writing now because I need some advice.
My little Eclipse will not leave the castle. The littlest things terrify them and I can tell that this makes them miserable. Tempest and I have read all the books we can find and tried taking them on distanced outings to ease their anxiety, but nothing will work. I am at a loss. I know I didn’t go out and talk to ponies once, but this is different. The world terrifies them. They are not living a good life like this and I don’t know what to do.
Whatever insight you have I would appreciate greatly.
Your faithful friend,
Twilight Sparkle

My dear Twilight,
I am always glad to hear from you, my friend. You do not have to be my student to write to me. As I said when I retired, I am always here for you when you need me. Whether for advice or simply somepony to confide in.
As you said, Eclipse is not like you were when you were younger. Encouraging them to get out and talk to ponies is not the solution like it was for you. They need to be able to work through their anxiety on their terms only. But I do know that everyone needs a friend. If Eclipse is willing, I know Aura would love to be one for them. She is knowledgeable in psychology and may be able to help with coping techniques if Eclipse wishes, but above all she hopes to be their friend. One friend goes a long way, after all.
Aura and I look forward to hearing what you and Eclipse think of this. I hope to hear from you more often, Twilight. I’ve missed your letters.
Your friend,
Celestia
