Spikes Quest – Chapter 3

The ground cracked and roared as large boulders avalanched downward into the gaping maw of the sink hole. Large and small rocks were swallowed up in the river of earth that crumbled down into the depths unknown. Amongst the rubble, the trio of teenaged dragons were caught in the tide of rushing debris, and understandably screaming for their lives.

“AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!” was roughly how it sounded, as the three dragons avoided boulders rolling past them. They scrambled for a grip on anything to slow the decent but were unsuccessful to say the least.

The afternoon sunlight was quickly fading to as they fell deeper into the hole, and the ceiling entrance was quickly covering itself up, plunging the dragons into darkness. They could barely make out the cave floor as it drew ever closer. They werent in freefall, more like a landslide, but that didnt alleviate their need to brace for impact as they hit the surface.

They were plunged into an underground river, and luckily not the hard ground. Unluckily the river had a strong current and carried the trio further into the cave system without their consent. They struggled to keep head above the water, as the river took them to its final stop, a waterfall leading into a small underground lake.

The river jettisoned the group yet again into the water waiting below. The avalanche of rocks and debris had followed them however, and sealing off the entrance of the waterfall. While the river still flowed, there would be no going the way they came in.
