It’s nymph time

buckle up because nymphs are a weird ass species-

General Nymph Information ==> Nymphs is the overarching term the strange, social creatures are widely know as. They are considered the only mortal group of species that can posses natural magical talent to varying degrees. While many things make the species similar, all 3 are quite varied in general attitude and appearance. There are 3 nymphs, Dryads, Oreads, and Leimoniads , but they are more commonly known as “Unicorns”, “Satyrs”, and “Fairies”. Within each group, there are at all times exactly 50 of each species, no more, no less, and half breeds aren’t considered true nymphs. All groups contain a single sex and don’t feel any primal instinct or desire to reproduce (although it doesn’t stop the curiosity of the unicorns and satyrs) they also, unless cut shorter by outside forces, all nymphs live to exactly 100 years old before they pass on. When a nymph dies, their spirit and magic is immediately reborn in a special location and through a path of nature (varies for each group). These next lives are entirely new children, their appearances and memories unaffected by their previous life. However some rumor and theorize that some subtle parts of a nymphs personality might be influenced by their previous life’s experiences, (particularly in interests and phobias). Nymphs also come in extremely varying appearances and are visually very diverse and individual. Each species has a large area they claim as home that typically posses a sort of mystical aura brought on by the nymph’s mere existences in those areas for so long. While many kingdoms have shown interest in these areas, there has always been a hesitation to take over these locations… Nymphs are very useful allies and often hard to not become attached to. All nymphs are “born” with the appearance and intelligence of a 5 year old and age at a slightly slower rate then a human or elf. All true nymphs share 1 physical trait in common, that being a white, light emitting pupil that seem’s to be a marker of their magic abilities. Half nymphs do not posses these eyes and it’s actually hypothesized that if a nymph were to lose one or both eyes, it could affect their magic abilities, but that’s unconfirmed.

Unicorns ==> Unicorns or Dryads take the forms of equine (or similar hooved creatures such as deer) women with hooved feel, long haired tails, and most notably a single horn based in the center of their foreheads. The unicorns live in what is referred to as “The Enchanted Woods”, a whimsical name for a forest filled with every kind of tree or anything similar, some of which don’t exist anywhere else. Unicorns are reborn through these trees, the tree always pealing away to unveil a new unicorn when one is “born”. The stumps left over are often seen as almost holy to the unicorns, becoming very sacred and important to them. All unicorns remember what stump they came from. A unicorn’s magic manifests as minor healing and prosperity, being able to ease pain, heal small wounds, and older unicorns even being able to return some amount of someone’s youth or make plants blossom and prosper. Unicorns come in many many colors and sizes, but often lean on being on the taller sides. Many describe unicorns as being tall and elegant, often feeling they have the airs of elves more then humans. Dryads are EXTREMELY social and curious, absolutely adoring to interact and explore other species (although rarely wanting to leave home to see the world themselves) They will often fawn and flatter travelers, loving anything or anyone new. They are also, despite not needing to reproduce, are very sexually adventurous, almost always flirting with anyone they find curious or attractive. It makes it so it’s not rare for many half unicorns to be seen wandering around the forest, considered apart of the family despite lacking nymph magic. While the unicorns have no rules about leaving The Enchanted Woods, it’s extremely rare for any of them to desire too. Unicorns, despite their curiosity and gentle nature towards other creatures, often view the world as brutish or “uncivilized” opting to remain in their “pure, utopian” home and not bother involving themselves with any real conflict. The Enchanted Wood’s is found on the far east coast, boarding a territory shared with the East humans and the Northeast elves, the unicorns having civil relationships with both nations. it’s also common for southeastern elves to end up on their shores and the unicorns absolutely love the island hopping elves (and sometimes mermaids) they meet there.
