Description:

It had been a few months since Confetti Surprise had come out of her coma. After she had woken up, her right wing was already gone and she was permanently placed in a wheelchair. Many ponies, her friends included, had told her how sorry they were that she could no longer fly or use her hind legs like she used to. But she didn’t feel sorry for herself at all! She honestly couldn’t understand why other ponies did. After all, she had her family and friends back. That was all that mattered. Besides, now her little Coco wasn’t alone on the ground anymore.

Confetti calmly gazed up at the sky to watch her family and her best friend playing hoofball together. She wrapped an arm around Chocolate Bomb who was laying down beside her. It seemed as if a lot was on the filly’s mind as she snuggled up closer to her mother.

“I’m sorry…” She uttered, barely above a whisper.

“What are you sorry for?” Confetti asked. “You did nothing wrong.”

“But I did!” Chocolate buried her head into her arms “I was so stupid! I thought my wish would come true by just jumping off a cliff!” She rambled on as tears formed in her eyes. “I’m a bad daughter!”

“Oh, Coco…” Confetti laid her head comfortingly upon her daughter’s mane. “You’re not a bad daughter, you just made a mistake.”

“Yeah, a big mistake…”

Before Confetti could say anything, she spotted another figure heading towards them. Cotton Tuft.

“Hey Can—Cotton, why aren’t you playing hoofball?”

“Didn’t feel like it,” she shrugged and sat down on the other side of Confetti.

“You got something on your mind too?”

“W-What? N-no, I’m fine,” Cotton stammered, as if taken aback by the question. “I mean, I guess…”

“Come on, you can tell me,” Confetti placed a hoof next to her other daughter, as if offering to let her hold it. “You know you can talk to me about anything.”

“It’s just been so crazy. I mean, one moment you’re here, the next you’re gone, and then you’re back again…” Cotton paused as her voice began to get choked up. “I guess what I want to say is I’m sorry. I’m sorry for yelling at you, I’m sorry for making you feel bad, I’m sorry for taking you for granted,” she sighed, “And if you can’t forgive me, then I can accept that.”

Confetti looked over at Cotton, her frown growing into a soft smile. “Of course I forgive you, honey. I forgive you both.” She pulled both of her daughters in closer. “You know what your Nana Pinkie used to sing to me?”

“What?” Chocolate asked eagerly. Cotton perked up too.

“When I was a little filly and the sun was going down,” Confetti sang softly “The darkness and the shadows they would always make me frown. I’d hide under my pillow, from what I thought I saw, but Granny Pie said that wasn’t the way to deal with fears at all. She said ‘Pinkie you gotta stand up tall, learn to face your fears. You’ll see that they can’t hurt you, just laugh to make them disappear.’”

“What does that have to do with anything?” Cotton asked.

“Well, you two were afraid of your past mistakes, weren’t you? Sometimes you have to forgive yourself, or laugh at your fears, to make them disappear. You don’t just need my forgiveness, you need to forgive yourselves to really be able to face your fears.”

“I guess that makes sense” Cotton chuckled. Chocolate nodded along with her.

“Cotton, Chocolate come on!” They looked up to find Cherry Fizz waving at them from the sky. “We’re gonna play on the ground now, it’s getting cold up here.”

“You guys run along then. You can’t just sulk all day!” Confetti laughed.

Her daughters laughed along with her before getting up to join the hoofball game.

“Love you, Mom!”

“I love you too,” Confetti smiled as she watched them go. “And I always will.”
