Description:
With tears stinging her eyes like a bee apocalypse, her heart beating as if it were a drum, and drips of sweat running down her soft, purple fur Twilight was both devastated and scared to find her daughter may possibly be dead.
The girl was a lighter shade of purple than her mother and her head looked like it would burst at any given second on the auxiliary table.
“I’m sorry, Twilight,” Nurse Red Heart sighed. “We’re doing all we can, but it appears this baby alicorn’s magic is far too strong for even her small body to handle… I don’t want to say what I want to say right now, but this may be enough to…” The Nurse paused for a brief second and almost whispered with a frown forming on her face, “It may be enough to kill her.”
“K-kill her!” Twilight shook. Even she didn’t know what to do. “C-come on, there’s probably a spell somewh-”
“NO. There is no spell of which the other doctors and I know of that can help her. I don’t want it to go out this way as much as you or the next pony, but I’m afraid I can’t help. I am an earth pony. I know no good spells to help with this newfound condition, but I can call for Luna or Celestia for help at the least.”
Tears streamed down her face like no tomorrow until Twilight finally had the guts to say, “Thank you.” She lay in bed motionless until hopefully, Celestia or Luna would come to help. I mean, she didn’t want to lose her child AGAIN even if it were different and would be much more depressing than before.

“So Princess, this is why this child may not make it. I ask you for some guidance. Her magic is off the charts and is hurting her tiny body. Her heartbeat is far too fast and her magic has already destroyed enough equipment as it is. Take a close look at her and see what you can do.” Red Heart explained.
“I will try my best.” Luna huffed, the beautiful night sky in her mane clashing with the more colorful, daybreak mane of the filly’s whom she was holding. At first glance, the filly had a slightly neutral expression on her face as she looked upon Luna whom was gigantic and very dark compared to her, but that expression eventually would wear off into one of gratitude. For Luna would try her hardest to stop this filly’s magic from getting too out of hoof. She remembered back to the good old days when Sombra was a king. A good king. Until one fateful day he’d had his heart broken and turned on her and Celestia. No longer was he her friend as much as she hated to admit it. Sombra felt very misunderstood and felt a lack of love in his heart and almost reminded Luna of herself as Nightmare Moon. She shivered. No way did she want to remember what she did to those poor ponies out of her pure anger and jealousy.
“Oh Sombra, oh Sombra, oh great, great, Sombra! Why must thou disobey the? Why can’t thy have love in your heart as thy did in the before time?!” She exclaimed, in her Canterlot voice.
Surprisingly, the newborn filly didn’t seem all that scared of her like other fillies and colts were when she used that tone of voice, but hey, this kid had gone through enough pain as it is. The color was draining from her face and Luna swore she could hear her heart rapidly beating. The baby foal struggled on the ground, crying, and sparks flew out of her horn. Luna quickly dodged with her shielding spell.
Luna quickly and careful picked the filly up whom was having an all-out tantrum in her hooves. Luna was struggling to hold her, but decided to get a stronger grip on the child and start out by listening to her heartbeat and looking at her X-rays. Luna gasped.
Luna continued to talk to no pony in particular. “I have seen this once before… I knew this was it. Sombra, I hope your spell truly works. This could have awful side affects, but is it worth the risk? This filly could die with or without it… but… I’d feel even more guilt in my heart if I knew this spell killed Twilight’s own child? She is my f-friend… I can’t! Sombra, would it be worth it? Why can’t my sister be here to give me advice? Why of all days did the filly have to be born TODAY?!” Tears of pure confusion streamed out of Luna’s eyes which soon turned to determination.
The daybreak maned filly was still barely grasping onto life in Luna’s hooves. Her heart beat sped up and her eyes softly closed as her heartbeat was almost no longer heard. Her face was turning white which was also out of the ordinary and had happened once before. Luna knew she had to do something, but she wasn’t sure if she should do it.
“Not again…” Luna sighed. “I lost a sister, Twilight shall not lose her daughter. I must take this risk. Oh great Sombra, please don’t deceive me. Please tell me your magic will bless this sweet little girl.” Luna took out the potion from her saddlebag, prepared, and put a drop of it on the foal.

“Twilight… Twilight… Twilight?”
“H-huh?” The princess’ grape purple eyes fluttered open while wiping away some stray tears. “I had a nightmare, nurse. My daughter was-”
“Dying? Yes. You cried yourself to sleep. Luna is back with some news, so I’d hope that it’s something good, but you’re going to have to be ready to expect the unexpected.”
Twilight gasped and put a hoof to her mouth as more tears appeared in the corners of her eyes. Luna walked in, her mane flowing gracefully and tears too forming in her eyes as she carried Twilight’s motionless child in her hooves. “Is she… she…” Twilight cried.
“Dying? Yes.”
“NO!!!!!!” Twilight screamed.
“Of exhaustion!” Luna chuckled. “Gotcha! She’s doing better and seems very healthy as it is.”
“I know, it’s ter- wait… WHAT?!?!”
“Yes, she is alive. She managed to pull through. She is one strong little filly.” Luna said holding the filly up to the sunlight.
“It’s a miracle!” Twilight cried, this time with tears of joy. “Thank you, thank you for helping save my baby girl! THANK YOU SO SO MUCH!”
“You are very-”
“THANK YOU!” Twilight hopped upon Luna and embraced her and her newborn child tightly. “Thank you for saving her.”
“I was going to say ‘you’re welcome’ but you interrupted.” Luna laughed. “Now… what shall we name her?”
“A-a name! I… Umm.. Twinkle Starshoot? NO! Uhh… Glim Glam? Ugh, so unoriginal! Dear lord, HELP ME!!!!!!!” Twilight exclaimed.
Luna put a comforting hoof on Twilight. “Hehehe. Calm down. I just thought knowing you you would have planned ahead, but I guess naming is tougher than first thought. May I suggest something?”
“Sure!”
“How about… Daybreak. Daybreak Shine. Her mane seems to be the color of a daybreak and her beautiful pink eyes shine even beyond that.” Luna explained.
“Daybreak sounds perfect.” Twilight replied, nuzzling the small filly in her hospital bed. “And to think I thought a few minutes ago for sure that she wouldn’t survive.”
“H-heh… yep. She will live!” Luna said, though, with regret still lingering in the pit of her chest.
“For now…” She whispered, slowly fading away.
