Description:
This is not the first time I talk about the ending of season 5, but after reading several comments from my last comic, I think I could do that again, because this comic is something I wanted to do for a long time.
The user :iconharvord: said that even Starlight did bad things, no one cared about it. She brainwashed a whole town, she captured the mane 6 and take their cutie marks (although it doesn't make sense that a unicorn is more powerful than an alicorn) she time traveled to change the past and the ending of the last episode was Twilight forgiving her and suddenly she's good.
My problem with that, personally, is how both characters takes surprisingly well these decisions, specially with the backstory of Starlight, which is lazily explained in less than one minute. If you want to do this story, that's cool. But do it right. I think the ending should have been great if the part 1 was one what-if and the part 2 was a backstory of Starlight so we can relate with her better. Besides, if you want to conclude the episode with forgiveness, I think I want to see a more engaging story than a 1 minute backstory for a villain becoming good. I understood that characters like Luna and Babs Seed were forgiven, but that's because we can relate with them. There's a movie called Gran Torino which said we have to believe in justice. And there's a game called Undertale which give us a good story that talks about friendship, hate, peace, war...
I still think the reason why they made a seventh main character is because people loved Rainbow Rocks and Sunset Shimmer as the seventh main character. Both characters are the same. Both characters regret about their pasts, one friend usually makes a joke about their pasts and they tried to make a serious character.
But I'm not too negative with Cutie Re-mark. I'm glad that I saw it, I like the what-if of Equestria conquered by king Sombra and all these different versions of my favourite characters (by the time they repeated the same thing with Chrysalis, Nightmare Moon and Tirek, I thought that it was fanservice in the same low level as anime. Chrysalis deserved a better episode) and it's one of the few episodes where Pinkie Pie is actually really charming. I just think the episode is inconsistent and not very good. And it's kinda funny the way they conclude the final song, like "yes, this season has everything you loved and it was wonderful", like the final shot of Tom & Jerry the movie.
I'm glad that users like :iconharvord: said exactly what I wanted to hear about the TV show, although I'm not as agressive. I think season 5 is better than seasons 4 and 6, but not because of this episode and The Cutie Map.
EDIT: I haven't read all your comments, but I'm going to say that I'm pretty busy right now. Not only I have to study english, but I have to do three commissions for a person (he's not from DeviantArt). Because of that, you won't see a new drawing made for me. I want to do a little surprise, specially for those who thinks that I'm really negative with the show. All that I'm to say about the next drawing is... October 10th. :) (Smile)
Stay tuned. Wink/Razz
