Scoria is an 35 year old earthpony mare volcanologist who lives and works within the Dragonlands and currently studies and monitors the volcanic activity with her team there at the behest of the Royal Equestrian Geological Service, and with the express permission and protection of Dragonlord Ember.

Physically, Scoria is of an equivalent build to Princess Cadance, and is notably strong of body. She is also very dextrous with both her hooves and mouth, and has a very elegant style of writing. A few minor scars mar her otherwise beautifully proportioned frame, and though mostly hidden by her coat, they can be felt.

A renowned member in her field of science, Scoria is very intelligent and insightful, though as a former resident of Baltimare, she talks in a way that anypony can understand. Straight and to the point is her modus operandi, and she heavily dislikes lies, half-truths, or covering up information.

She can get very excitable at times, much to the chagrin of her more conservative and traditional minded peers, but this only endears her towards open minded peers and her classes of students when she is not working in the field. Also, she is not above bouncing around in an adorable manner during these moments.

Named for the reddish basaltic rock fragments often found on volcanic cinder cones, Scoria works tirelessly with her team to learn how volcanic systems operate in particular, with the ultimate goal of predicting eruptions and/or related disasters. She takes a lot of pride in the fact that even magic cannot allow ponykind to predict that sort of thing, and works just as hard as the rest of her team in their pursuit of their goals.

When it comes to more personal matters, Scoria is technically heterosexual, though is effectively married to her job, for all intents and purposes. To really get her undivided attention is a rather difficult, though not impossible, prospect. You would have to be physically able to keep up with her, and to be able to match wits with this smart mare. It is noted that Scoria doesn't care about the species or looks of a partner, but does look for commitment, honesty and integrity in them.
